Abstract: An outer blade of an electric shaver has slits. Each of the slits includes: a first slit portion; a second slit portion positioned in a displaced manner from the first slit portion in a length direction of the outer blade; and a connecting slit portion connecting the first slit portion to the second slit portion. A displacement width in the length direction of the outer blade between the first slit portion and the second slit portion is set equal to or larger than at least one of widths of connecting portions of the first slit portion and the second slit portion connected to the connecting slit portion.

Abstract: A hair cutting device of the present disclosure comprises an optical waveguide and a holding member that holds the optical waveguide. The optical waveguide comprises a light irradiator. The light irradiator irradiates hair protruding from skin with light to cut the hair. The holding member holds the optical waveguide in such a way that the light irradiator is exposed from at least one surface. As a result, even when the hair or the skin comes in contact with the light irradiator, misalignment or the like of the optical waveguide hardly occurs. This results in the improved hair cutting device being provided.

Abstract: An outer blade for an electric shaver has slits. With bars extending along an outer-blade width direction, each of the slits is defined by respective ends of the bars, the respective ends being positioned side by side along an outer-blade length direction, and is defined continuously from one end to another end in the outer-blade width direction. At least one of two bars that define the slit is provided with a lifter that lifts hair by contact. The lifter is formed partway along the slit and extends between edges of the slit along the outer-blade length direction when viewed along the outer-blade width direction.

At least at a time of cutting the hair, a power density of light passing through the optical waveguide is more than or equal to 50 kW/cm2. This makes it easy to efficiently cut hair with light with which the light irradiator irradiates the hair. That is, it is possible to apply sufficient light energy for cutting the hair from the optical waveguide to the hair, and it is possible to cut the hair in a relatively short time. Therefore, for example, a width increases such as a thickness or hardness of hair that can be cut.
