Abstract: A call recording system includes a processing module operable in a call recording mode for storing compressed call data in a data storage device. The processing module is further operable in a selected one of a near data access mode, where call data retrieval is conducted under the control of a telephone handset connected to the system, a remote data access mode, where call data retrieval is conducted under the control of a remote terminal connected to the system via a telephone network, and a computer network access mode, where call data retrieval is conducted through a computer network connection with the system.
