    Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to UL-based and DL-based positioning in a wireless communication network. A method comprises: determining, by a first device, an estimation of a propagation delay for a first reference signal to be transmitted from a second device; in accordance with a determination that the estimation of the propagation delay exceeds a threshold delay, determining a target period within a symbol on which at least a part of the first reference signal is transmitted; and performing positioning measurements on the first reference signal within the target period. As such, the receiver is capable of applying an adaptive and adjustable window for receiving different positioning reference signals (PRSs) depending on various conditions and situations. In this way, the PRS measurement performance and the positioning accuracy can be greatly improved.

    Abstract: Determining positioning of a UE in a network includes the UE transmitting mobility status information to a LMF. A wireless network broadcasts configuration parameters for a set of mobility indicators. A receiving UE evaluates the configuration parameters and derives mobility status information, which the UE reports to the LMF. The LMF then determines positioning frequency layer and positioning reference signal configurations on DL (PRS) and UL (SRS). The LMF then sends the positioning frequency layer and reference signal configurations for DL and/or UL and positioning measurement and reporting configurations to the UE, its serving gNB and configured neighbour gNBs. The UE and gNB(s) then perform positioning measurements according to the positioning reference signal configurations for DL and/or UL and according positioning measurement and reporting configurations and report the positioning measurements to the LMF to determine the UE's position in the wireless network.

    Abstract: According to embodiments of the present disclosure, a PRS transmission timing scheme for sidelink assisted positioning is proposed. According to embodiments of the present disclosure, the supporting terminal device measures a receiving-transmitting (Rx-Tx) time difference between receiving the downlink PRS (DL) and transmitting the sidelink (SL) PRS. The supporting terminal device transmits an indication of the RX-TX time difference to the location management device in order to reduce the impact of low synchronization issue on positioning performance as well as the use of wideband PRS for higher measurement accuracy. In this way, the positioning performance of sidelink assisted positioning has been improved.

    Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to beam selection during downlink positioning. According to embodiments of the present disclosure, the terminal devices are grouped based on their characteristics and the anchor terminal device in the group determines the best transmitting beam of the neighbor network device. The non-anchor terminal device uses the assistance information of the best transmitting beam determined by the anchor terminal device. In this way, cost for the terminal device to receive and measure the PRS during downlink positioning has been reduced.
