Abstract: A field sequential type projector comprises: a plurality of light sources that output primary color lights each having a peak wavelength in a primary color wavelength region, the primary color lights having different peak wavelengths in the primary color wavelength region; an illumination optical system that includes a video image formation device that spatially modulates the primary color lights output from the plurality of light sources to form an image light, and guides the primary color lights output from the plurality of light sources to the video image formation device; and a projection optical system that projects the image light formed by the video image formation device.
