    Abstract: The present invention relates to a front unit (1) for a ski binding, comprising a front jaw (2) for fixating a ski boot in a downhill position and engagement members (36) for pivotably supporting the ski boot about a horizontal pivot axis (S) perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the ski in a climbing position, wherein for switching between the downhill position and the climbing position the front jaw (2) is disposed slidably in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the ski relative to the engagement members (36).
