    Abstract: A firearm operating system includes a firing pin having a first end and a second end. An operating rod assembly includes an operating rod, a lug positioned at a first end of the operating rod, and a firing pin retainer extending from the lug. A bolt carrier includes a bolt carrier pocket structured to receive the firing pin retainer, and a bolt carrier cam pin opening. A bolt is structured to be received in the bolt carrier. The bolt includes a bolt cam pin opening. A cam pin is structured to be positioned through the bolt carrier cam pin opening and into the bolt cam pin opening. The first end of the firing pin extends through a firing pin opening of the cam pin to retain the cam pin. The firing pin retainer of the operating rod assembly engages the second end of the firing pin so as to retain the firing pin.

    Abstract: A break-action firearm for high caliber ammunition is described. In some arrangements, the firearm is a rifle. The higher caliber ammunition may be, for example, fifty caliber ammunition. The firearm includes a barrel that is hingedly coupled to a lower portion of the firearm. A latching mechanism secures the barrel in a firing position and releases the barrel from the firing position. The barrel includes a screw-on breech cap that is threadedly coupled to the end of the barrel. The breech cap includes a firing pin. When an ammunition cartridge is loaded into the barrel, the screw-on breech cap is installed, and the barrel is secured in the firing position, a user can pull a trigger that causes a firing hammer to hit the firing pin thereby firing the ammunition cartridge.

    Abstract: A bolt carrier group for a firearm includes a bolt carrier, a bolt, and a cam pin. The bolt carrier includes a medial portion and a first and second outer portion. The bolt carrier slidably couples with a first elongated member at the first outer portion and a second elongated member at the second outer portion. The bolt is received within an inner volume of the bolt carrier. The cam pin is coupled with the bolt. The cam pin is positioned at least partially within the inner volume of the bolt carrier and extends through a top surface of the bolt carrier. The cam pin and the bolt are translatable and pivotable relative to the bolt carrier between a first position and a second position. The cam pin is configured to engage a recess of the second outer portion of the bolt carrier when in the first position.
