摘要:
A pressure gauge isolator employs a tube or line between the pressure gauge and a source of pressure. A translatable piston or plug is disposed within the line between two constrictions. The first constriction prevents the plug from entering the system which comprises the source of pressure. The second constriction prevents the plug from passing beyond the constriction to prevent excessive pressurization of the gauge and to positively prevent the fluid of the pressure source from reaching the gauge. The plug or piston has a first end in sealing engagement with the inner wall of the tube and facing the pressure source. A second end of the plug has a diameter to provide a slight clearance between it and the inner wall of the tube. The plug is made of resilient material such as rubber.

A fill limiter, check and safety valve has a body with an inlet passage for receiving gas from a source, an outlet passage for passing gas to tanks to be charged and a check valve between the two passages which prevents flow from the outlet passage to the inlet passage and, in addition, prevents inlet pressure from exceeding a predetermined level. A safety passage opens into the inlet passage and is capped by a burst disc assembly. A plug or fitting caps the bore in which the valving element is disposed and is adapted to lead to a gauge. The fitting has an orifice to prevent pressure surges from affecting gauge readings.

A spool of a normally open valve has an orificed passage for gas flow from a source chamber to a control pressure chamber. The spool has an area facing control pressure which exceeds the area of the spool facing source pressure. The spool is kept in its open position during normal operation because the product of control chamber pressure and spool area seeing the control chamber and normal to the axis of the spool is maintained equal to or greater than the product of source pressure and spool area seeing source pressure and normal to the axis of the spool. Downstream from the control pressure chamber, a second orifice maintains the pressure in the control pressure chamber during normal operation at a value great enough to keep the spool control area control chamber pressure product high enough to keep the valve open. When there is a leak, however, between the valve and the second orifice, the second orifice cannot maintain a sufficiently high control pressure and the product of source pressure and spool source area will exceed the offsetting product and the spool will move to a closed position preventing gas flow through the valve. The orifice in the spool assures that there will be sufficient pressure drop between the two chambers to cause the spool to close.

Each container in a bank of containers is individually charged with a gas in the order of the highest residual pressure remaining in the containers at the time charging is initiated. Gas withdrawal from the containers begins with the container at the lowest beginning pressure.
摘要:
A valve controls communication between a source of pressurized gas and containers which are to be charged with the gas. The valve in turn, is controlled by the pressure of a gas in a reference vessel which is in thermal communication with the containers to be charged. This reference vessel contains a quantity of gas charged into it at a predetermined temperature and pressure. The valve is controlled by the pressure of the reference vessel and the container to be charged such that when a predetermined pressure differential between the two exists, the valve closes communication between the source of gas the the containers.
