Abstract: Apparatus for preventing tangling of an endless rope continuously lowered from, and raised onto, a ship moving in water, including placing inclined resistance plates or other materials having the same effect on the endless rope at suitable intervals to increase the distance of separation of the descending part and the ascending part of the rope from each other by the force of the water produced by the forward movement of the ship on the resistance plates. The endless rope is provided with either buckets for mining of minerals from the sea bottom or with nets for catching sea life.
