Abstract: An optical amplifier assembly includes an optical amplifier stage including an active fiber with an active fiber core configured to guide and amplify a signal light; a pump laser configured to provide pump laser light; a wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) coupler configured to couple the pump laser light into the active fiber core; and a gain-flattening fiber Bragg grating (FBG) arranged in the active fiber core. The optical amplifier stage is configured to provide a spectral gain profile corresponding to the active fiber core and the pump laser. The gain-flattening FBG is configured to at least partially flatten the spectral gain profile in order for the optical amplifier assembly to provide an amplified signal light with an at least partially flattened first spectral gain profile. The amplified signal light is derived from the signal light propagating through the active fiber core.

Abstract: An optical device may include a laser component to emit a source beam and an optical component to split the source beam to generate a first beam and a second beam. The optical device may include a multiplexing component to multiplex the first beam and the second beam to form a first multiplexed beam, an optical system to receive the first multiplexed beam and demultiplex the first beam and the second beam, and a scanning component to scan a field of view with the first beam and the second beam and receive the first beam and the second beam reflected from the field of view. The optical system may multiplex the first beam and the second beam reflected from the field of view to form a second multiplexed beam, and a demultiplexing component may demultiplex the first beam and the second beam reflected from the field of view.

Abstract: A method and a controller for operating an array of variable optical retarders are disclosed. Neighboring pixels of the array of variable optical retarders are driven with disordered temporal bit sequences. An optical beam illuminating the pixels tends to integrate time-domain modulation caused by individual pixels driven in a non-coordinated or disordered fashion, which reduces the overall time-domain modulation amplitude of the optical beam.
