Abstract: The disclosure relates to compositions for altering the color of keratin fibers and methods of using the compositions. The compositions comprise (a) a bonding system comprising (i) at least one first bonding agent chosen from lactic acid and/or salts thereof, and (ii) at least one second bonding agent chosen from amino acids and/or salts thereof; (b) at least one fatty alcohol; (c) at least one fatty acid; (d) at least one alkyl polyglucoside; (e) at least one alkalizing agent; and (f) at least one solvent. The compositions can further comprise one or more oxidation dyes, couplers, oxidizing agents, or combinations thereof.

Abstract: Cosmetic compositions, systems and methods for conferring responsive durable shaping of keratinous fibers employ at least one shape memory polymer that includes a three-armed branched polyethylene glycol (PEG) based polymer that is functionalized with one or more metal-coordination active groups. The shape memory polymer forms a crosslinked network coating on a substrate, for example a substrate selected from keratinous substrates, for example, hair. Hair coated with the shape memory polymer and treated with an oxidizing agent can be shaped, locked into shape, and reprogrammed by modulation of pH. The coated hair retains durable shaping properties through at least one shampoo treatment. The cosmetic compositions, systems and methods provide durable and reprogrammable durable shaping of the keratinous substrate, for example for styling hair.

Abstract: The instant disclosure is drawn to an essentially anhydrous hair treatment composition; and to methods for conditioning, managing, and improving the look and feel of hair. The compositions include: (a) about 5 to about 95 wt. % of one or more ketals/acetals of glycerin compounds; (b) one or more fatty compounds; (c) one or more fatty alcohols; (d) one or more cationic surfactants; and (e) less than 5 wt. % of water and mono-alcohols having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms. The compositions are typically transparent or translucent, form a lamellar phase in situ when contact with water, and provide deep conditioning and other benefits to the hair.
