An azo pigment of formula (1), a tautomer of the azo pigment, or a salt or hydrate thereof, are provided: G0 and G1 each is a non-metal atomic group which can form a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring, The rings may be monocyclic or condensed and are optionally substituted. X is a hetero atom. n is an integer of 1 to 4. When n=2, 3, or 4, the compound is a dimer, trimer, or tetramer, respectively. A is a substituent. The azo pigment has excellent coloring characteristics such as high tinctorial strength and hue. It also has excellent durability including high resistance to light and ozone. A pigment dispersion containing the azo pigment and a coloring composition are also provided.
