Abstract:
In a method of administering an interactive transaction in a lottery game, a plurality of play spots is printed on each lottery ticket of a plurality of lottery tickets. Each play spot has a value selected from a set of values and the values of the play spots are distributed randomly on the tickets. Thus, the distribution makes it impossible to predict the values of the play spots on a given ticket of the plurality of tickets based on knowledge of the values of play spots of other tickets of the plurality of tickets. Each of the plurality of play spots is covered with a removable medium and a unique identifier is placed on each ticket. A record of the unique identifier and of the values of the play spots for each ticket are stored in a database. If a first communication has been received from a distributor indicating that a user has properly obtained a distributed ticket, then the record of the unique identifier corresponding to the distributed ticket is flagged to indicate that the distributed ticket may be activated and if a second communication has been received from the user that identifies the distributed ticket, then interactive data is received from the user; the user is instructed to uncover a preselected set of play spots by removing the removable medium; and the record of the unique identifier corresponding to the distributed ticket is flagged to indicate that the distributed ticket has been activated.
Abstract:
A game selection device for use in a lottery system includes data storage for a plurality of game types, information corresponding to each of the game types, and at least one play option corresponding to one or more of the plurality of game types. The game selection device further includes a user interface configured to display the plurality of game types and at least one play option associated with each game type, receive a game type selection input from the user, and receive a play option selection input from the user. Additionally, the game selection device includes an encoder for encoding the user's selections as a code. A code writer writes the code onto a play card. Also disclosed, is a scanning device to scan an enhanced bar code. A method of utilizing the aforementioned game selection device is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A lottery ticket including at least one game area with at least one play area where each play area includes a plurality of play regions with each play region having a first indicia covered by an opaque scratch-off layer and a second indicia appearing above the scratch-off layer. The player removes at least one of the scratch-off layers and if the first indicia appearing in such activated play regions matches any one of the second indicia in a non-activated play region, a prize may be won.
Abstract:
A method of validation of a voucher in a gaming machine includes receiving the voucher in the gaming machine from a user. The voucher includes first coded indicia having first identification data and value data. The voucher also includes second coded indicia being generally non-viewable and having second identification data. The method also includes reading the first coded indicia and decoding the first coded indicia to determine the first identification data and the value data. The method further includes reading the second coded indicia and decoding the second coded indicia to determine the second identification data. An algorithm is executed with a controller using at least one of the first identification data, the second identification data, and the value data to generate algorithm data. The method also includes validating the authenticity of the voucher with the controller using at least the algorithm data to determine if the voucher is authentic.

Abstract:
In a method of a method of linking a unique identifier to an instant game ticket, a user is instructed to enter a unique identifier on an identifier entry mechanism. An image of the unique identifier is received from the user via the identifier entry mechanism. The unique identifier is stored in a computer-readable memory. A representation of the unique identifier and at least one game result is printed on an instant win game ticket. The user is instructed not to accept the instant win game ticket unless the representation of the unique identifier printed thereon corresponds to the unique identifier that the user entered on the identifier entry mechanism.
