Abstract: The invention relates to a method of manufacturing an active optical fibre having a cladding and a doped core, as well as the active optical fibre equipped with the cladding and the doped core. The active optical fibre according to the invention is adapted to conduct and generate radiation having a wavelength λ and is provided with a cladding and a core containing at least one active dopant, characterised in that the core comprises elongate elements made of a first type of glass having a first refractive index n1 and elongate elements of a second type of glass having a second refractive index n2, oriented along the optical fibre and forming a compact bundle, wherein transverse dimensions of the elongate core elements are smaller than ⅕ of the wavelength λ. Such optical fibres are used in laser generation and in amplification techniques.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an optical fiber with shaped photosensitivity profile, comprising a nanostructured core composed of at least two types of glass rods, wherein at least one type of glass rods is doped with germanium. The invention relates also to a method for preparing an optical fiber with a core allowing for obtaining photoinduced refractive index modulation. Depending on their specific type, such optical fibers are applicable i.a. in laser generation and in amplification techniques (active optical fibers) and/or in optical fiber sensors and telecommunications applications (passive optical fibers).

Abstract: The subject of the invention is a microprobe for selective electroporation comprising at least two metal electrodes (A) immersed in a glass rod (E), characterised in that the glass rod (E) made of a primary glass is 50 μm to 2 mm in diameter, preferably 50 μm to 500 μm, the metal electrodes (A) made of a metal alloy are formed as rods with diameter of 1 μm to 100 μm, preferably 20 μm to 30 μm, wherein endings of those rods are exposed, wherein the primary glass and the metal alloy are matched in such manner that dilatometric softening temperature DTM of the primary glass is highly similar to the temperature of melting for the metal alloy. The invention also includes a method of manufacturing of such a microprobe.
