Abstract: A non-terrestrial network communication method includes: a terminal receives, from a first network device, a message indicating that a satellite that provides a service for a first cell is updated to a second satellite, where the first message includes information used to determine a coverage area of a second cell served by the second satellite on the ground. The terminal determines, based on a location of the terminal and the coverage area of the second cell on the ground, whether the terminal is located within or outside the coverage area.
