Abstract: A UE receives satellite ephemeris information from a server server and calculates one or more satellite parameters for at least one satellite based on the satellite ephemeris information. The UE controls, based on the one or more satellite parameters, operation of a software application that utilizes a data service provided via the at least one satellite. Calculating satellite parameters can include calculating one or more satellite parameters at an API of the UE, and controlling operation of a software application can include receiving, at the API, a request for satellite ephemeris information from the software application, providing, by the API, a representation of the one or more satellite parameters to the software application in response to the request, and adjusting, at the software application, an operation of the software application based on the received representation of the one or more satellite parameters.

Abstract: A method for detecting coverage problems is provided. The method includes receiving, at data processing hardware, from at least one user equipment (UE), observations. The method also includes generating, by the data processing hardware, a coverage map for the base station based on the received observations, the coverage map indicating a signal characteristic of the emitted signal about the base station. The method further includes determining, by the data processing hardware, an estimated characteristic of the base station by feeding the coverage map into a neural network configured to output the estimated characteristic of the base station.

Abstract: The disclosure provides a method of operating a communication network. The method includes receiving input data related to a state of the communication network and operation of the communication network. The method then includes determining a policy for the communication network based on the input data. The policy is a set of features for forming a plurality of communication links in the communication network over a time interval. The plurality of communication links provides one or more paths through the communication network. Determining the policy is based at least in part on utility values of previous policies. The utility values of previous policies are derived using simulation and/or real-world implementation of the previous policies. The communication network is then operated to implement the policy in the time interval.

Abstract: This document describes techniques for flexible frequency band pairing for satellite communications. In aspects, a non-terrestrial communication system uses multiple frequency bands for a wireless link between a user equipment, UE, and a satellite of the non-terrestrial communication system. The non-terrestrial communication system determines to utilize two different frequency bands the wireless link between the satellite and the UE, the two different frequency bands being defined by a governing entity. In response, the non-terrestrial based communication system selects a first defined frequency band for downlink communications from the satellite to the UE and a second defined frequency band for uplink communications from the UE to the satellite. The non-terrestrial communication system then directs the satellite and the UE to communicate via the wireless link by using the first defined frequency band for the downlink communications and the second defined frequency band for the uplink communications.

Abstract: This document describes techniques and apparatuses that include a three-dimensional (3D) antenna module for transmitting or receiving electromagnetic millimeter waves (mmWaves). In general, a user equipment (UE) may include the 3D antenna module in a corner of a housing of the UE. The 3D antenna module may include three antenna panels that are generally planar and generally orthogonal to three respective axes of a Cartesian-coordinate system. The 3D antenna module may transmit and receive the electromagnetic mmWaves as part of a wireless link between the UE and another device, such as a satellite that is part of a wireless-communication network. In general, the 3D antenna module may mitigate propagation losses and allow the UE to maintain a link-budget for the wireless link.
