Abstract: The example embodiments are directed to a system and method for simulating an application performance using a test environment associated with an application marketplace where the application can be purchased. In one example, the method may include operating a virtual test environment which includes virtual hardware for testing software, receiving, from the application marketplace, information about an application and operating characteristics of a target installation environment for the application, executing the application via the virtual hardware of the virtual test environment based on the operating characteristics of the target installation environment to generate simulated test results of the application in the target installation environment, and outputting information of the simulated application test results for the target installation environment for display on a display device. Accordingly, a user can simulate an application performance before purchasing and deploying the application in a larger scale.

Abstract: The example embodiments are directed to a system and method for determining an improvement to an asset created by installation of a software application associated with the asset. In one example, the method includes determining an operating performance of an asset operating based on a performance modifying application being installed, establishing a baseline operating performance of the asset from a virtual model of the asset which is running without the performance modifying application installed, determining a change in an operating characteristic of the asset in response to the performance modifying application being installed based on the operating performance of the asset determined from the asset and the baseline operating performance of the asset determined from the virtual model of the asset, and outputting information about the determined change in the operating characteristic of the asset for display on a display device.

Abstract: The example embodiments are directed to a system and method for incorporating licensing information into a downloadable application via an application marketplace. In an example, the method includes one or more of receiving a request of an asset control system, at an application marketplace, to download and install an instance of a software application from the application marketplace for use with an asset controlled by the asset control system, dynamically determining a licensing scheme to be used for the instance of the software application from among a plurality of possible licensing schemes based on configuration information stored in a repository associated with the application marketplace, assigning the dynamically determined licensing scheme to a downloadable file of the software application, and transmitting the downloadable file having the dynamically assigned licensing scheme to an industrial edge computing system associated with the asset control system.
