    摘要： Provided is an image forming apparatus including: an annular transfer belt having an outer surface on which an image is transferred; a transferring unit including a transfer cylinder having a transfer area that sandwiches a recording medium with the outer surface of the transfer belt to transfer the image from the outer surface of the transfer belt to the recording medium, and a pair of first rotating bodies disposed on both axial end sides of the transfer cylinder; a pair of circulating members each being wound around the first rotating body and being circulated by rotation of the first rotating bodies; and a holding unit attached to the circulating members, the holding unit configured to hold the recording medium, transport the recording medium with circulation of the circulating members, and pass the recording medium through the transfer area.

    摘要： A transfer device includes: a transfer drum that has a groove-like recess extending in an axial direction in an outer circumferential portion thereof, rotates about an axis thereof, and comes into contact with a medium being transported at a portion thereof on an upstream side of the recess in a rotation direction; a nip member, the nip member and the transfer drum forming therebetween a nip part where the medium is nipped; an application member that applies a voltage to the nip part where the medium is nipped, so that an image is transferred to the medium; and a contact mechanism that causes the nip member to come into contact only with a portion on the upstream side of the recess in the transfer drum in the rotation direction at a transfer-start time when the transfer of the image to the medium starts.

    摘要： An image forming apparatus includes: an annular transfer belt having an outer surface on which an image is transferred; a nip portion that forms a nip region for nipping a recording medium with an outer surface of the transfer belt; a facing portion that faces the nip region from an inner side of the transfer belt and transfers the image from the transfer belt to the recording medium in the nip region by charging the transfer belt; and a transport unit including a holding portion that holds the recording medium, transports the recording medium by moving the holding portion, and causes the recording medium together with the holding portion to pass the nip region while holding the recording medium at the holding portion.

    摘要： A transfer device includes: a transfer member to which a voltage is applied by a power supply device to generate a transfer electric field for transferring a developer image to a recording medium; a transfer cylinder having a recess in which a retaining member that retains a leading end portion of the recording medium is disposed, the transfer electric field being generated between the transfer cylinder and the transfer member at a transfer position; a shunt circuit by which the voltage applied to the transfer member is shunted to a reference potential point; and an operation stopping mechanism that starts and stops an operation of the shunt circuit in response to rotation of the transfer cylinder, the operation being started when the recess reaches the transfer position and stopped when the recess leaves the transfer position.
