摘要: Improved activated carbon electrodes are disclosed which electrodes have increased charge storage capacity and reduced leakage current. Such improved electrodes are incorporated into energy storage devices such as electric double layer capacitors. The improved charge storage capacity is due to the adsorption of polyoxometalate compounds onto the activated carbon, and reduced leakage current is achieved by stabilizing the polyoxometalate compounds within the activated carbon through the use of a compound capable of generating at least one ionic site.

摘要: A method of reducing distortion in a glass sheet is described and comprises the steps of: forming a glass ribbon in a glass manufacturing process; separating a glass sheet from the glass ribbon, the glass sheet having a substantially flat surface; measuring a retardation through the surface of the glass sheet; defining a retardation parameter indicative of the retardation of the glass sheet; cutting the glass sheet into a plurality of sub-sheets; measuring a distortion of the sub-sheets; defining a distortion parameter indicative of the distortion of the sub-sheets; and determining a correlation between the retardation parameter and the distortion parameter such that the distortion parameter of sub-sheets of a subsequent glass sheet can be predicted based on the correlation.

摘要: The process of the present invention for the recovery of metal ions from a polymeric chelating agent stream or solution comprises the circulation of a loaded polymeric chelating agent stream or solution through an electrolytic recovery cell. The chelating agent is loaded with metal ions or complexes of the species to be recovered which have been extracted from a feed stream or solution. These metal ions or complexes will be reduced and recovered from the chelating polymer by an electrodeposition method. If the chelating agent is used in a continuous flow-type system, the lean polymeric chelating agent can optionally be recycled for further use in extraction of the desired metal species. The addition of scrub and regeneration stages to such a system is optional, depending on feed stream composition.

摘要: A process for the electrocatalytic reduction of carbon dioxide comprises immersing a transition metal complex with square planar geometry into an aqueous or nonaqueous solution which has been acidified to a hydrogen ion concentration of from about 10.sup.-5 M to about 10.sup.-1 M, adding the carbon dioxide, applying an electrical potential of from about -0.8 volts to about -1.5 volts vs. SCE, and reducing the carbon dioxide to carbon monoxide.
