Abstract:
A reference-aid publication supplement (10) comprises at least one marker member (18) which may be a marker panel portion supplied with a publication means vessel externally/internally and issued therewith for indexing application by the user to rapidly retrieve and access publication information contained within non-paginated and paginated publication types. Each marker member may be formed/shaped from double-faced flexible sheet substrate (19,20) unitarily or independently therefrom by at least one line of separations, severable line means, separable line means (24,25,26). One face of each marker member has at least one predetermined attaching means area having at least one flexible adhesive layer means (22) being permanently and/or semi-permanently attached thereto and covered by a removable protective sheet means (21). An exposing surface layer (22A) being a non-aggressive low adhesion adhesive of a releasable and reusable pressure sensitive type may be applied directly or indirectly to the substrate permitting each marker member to be remountable repeatedly on the publication from when it came. An optional flexible base liner (22C) may be sandwiched between the adhesive layer means (22A,22B). The removably protective covering means substrate (21) may be of the same substrate or different substrates as the marker member and may be independent thereof or hingedly connected/articulated thereto being folded and firmly creased along a foldable line (26A) to originally engage the adhesively releasably cooperating inner faces of each apparatus member. A variety of version forms of the reference-aid may be utilized in application.
Abstract:
A system/process for code-marking and/or machine entering/reading a system of assigned coded reference markers for the relocation, access and retrieval of publication vessels and the desired information upon demand for either paginated or non-paginated vessel types. The system/process consisting of reading/entering either pre-coded and/or machine coding at least one marker (10) for the system before, during or after the marker is adheringly applied to the pre-determined/determined publication vessel(s) (50). The coding may be generated by at least one of the main printer (46) and/or sub-printer on at least one selected face (11,12) of at least one marker, where various forms of machine readable information may distinguish one category of coded markers, individually coded markers or selected marker coded faces thereof from each other to at least one publication vessel for the system. Such machine coding maybe provided from the exterior and/or interior of each marker member, may be directly applied to the face of the desired marker or may be indirectly attached to the marker face or faces by the application of at least one adhering label (20) which carries such readable information thereon the surface. Each marker member having at least one machine readable field (25,26), identification field and/or information field on at least one face consisting of at least one machine readable element (30,30a). Machine reading selected faces of selected markers to relocate, retrieve and access certain publication vessels from storage position and/or specific information within the confines of the respective publication to which the corresponding marker represents thereto.
Abstract:
A single or multi-functional reference marker apparatus for paginated and non-paginated publications, portfolios and other supporting substrates. The reference marker apparatus (10) having one or more other applications as receptacle marker, index marker, game marker and coupon marker and may carry subordinate reference marker(s) (18). The apparatus consisting of at least one reference marker is formed from multi-faced substrate including the support/covering substrate(s) (21) which may be articulated and/or non-articulated to the reference marker or markers (18). Each reference marker having at least one attaching area on at least one face of at least one mounting portion of the multi-faced substrate; the at least one mounting adhesive layer being attached/applied to such attaching area, another adhesive layer (22) or substrate carrier (22C). Mounting portion(s) may be hingedly connected to the reference marker by at least one foldable line (26A). Further, at least one separable line (24, 25, 26) and/or at least one foldable line may integrally form at least one hingedly/non-hingedly connected and partially detachable subordinate marker member from the multi-faced substrate (19, 20). The reference marker being adhesively mountingly engageable to at least one publication substrate, portfolio substrate and/or supporting substrate.
Abstract:
A process for serially index-marking a system of publications for filing paginated and non-paginated publications for the system comprises imprinting directly one or both faces (11, 12) of marker members (10) or imprinting a label (20) to indirectly apply the field information to a marker's face or faces. Each of the marker members having a primary field and/or at least one sub-field on at least one marker's face. The primary field (25) and sub-field (26) comprising at least one pair of readable indicia elements being mutually corresponding in each field. Each machine readable imprinted marker member for a certain publication is differentiated from other publication markers for the same publication and different publications for the system by assignment of different pairs of readable indicia to each marker member being peculiar to and representative of each marker. The pairs of indicia imprinted and carried in the fields consist of one machine readable indicia element (30) with one corresponding visually readable indicia element (30a) having a pre-determined associative relationship. The fields of indicia pairs imprinted are predetermined to appear upright to one pre-selected marker edge which extends beyond the physical edge of the respective publication (50).
Abstract:
A reference-aid article which can be used as an index marker, game marker, or coupon marker is disclosed. The reference-aid is formed from a multi-faced substrate which is adapted to accept information on at least one of the faces. The substrate also has at least one marker member (18) and at least one removably protective substrate means (21) releasably attached to the substrate.
Abstract:
An improved reference-aid apparatus and system for publications, a production-assembled apparatus included with the publication at the time of manufacture, adapted to be separably removable from the publication and mountable thereon by a user, double-faced apparatus (10) comprised of the mountable directory (34) and markers (11,18) constructed from at least one flexible sheet are formed by at least one separable line (24,25,26). The information means area (12,13; 19,20; 36,37) occupies substantially one face of each member; the attaching means area portion comprised of at least one attaching means area, the sum total attaching means area is from about 2% to about 99.9% overlies the information means area beneath, the attaching means area portion occupied by the substantially transparent and inferior adhesive (16,22) permitting the apparatus members to be remountable repeatedly being adapted to be colored. The multiple-faced releasably protective covering means (15,21) is without a release coating means, intermittently severed and adapted to be imprinted on at least one face overlies the adhesive beneath, at least one edge of the covering extends beyond the adhesive beneath to facilitate removal of the covering. The marker ( 11,18) mounted to the outside margin extending beyond and overlying the publication edge. A separably mountable directory (34) mounting to the publication panel, one information area having at least one inscribable entry area portion comprised of at least one inscribable entry area identified by an adjacent identification indicia reciprocally corresponding in "cross-matched" cooperation with each other, each matched sets being variated to differentiate groups of "like" indicia from each other.
