Abstract: A method includes configuring a service on a network, and generating infrastructure definitions that define one or more network topologies configured on the network to implement the service. The method also includes decomposing a service definition of the service into a subservice dependency graph to indicate a collection of subservices and dependencies between the subservices that collectively implement the service. The method further includes, based on the subservice dependency graph and the one or more network topologies defined by the infrastructure definitions, determining infrastructure elements configured in the network to implement the service. The method also includes generating a heatmap that maps the service against the infrastructure elements and that indicates, for the infrastructure elements, respective measures of criticality in a range from a high criticality to a low criticality.

Abstract: End-to-end, in situ packet enrichment for network analytics includes receiving, at a network device is a part of an end-to-end path in a network, a template that specifies unique information elements to be added to a header of a packet traversing the network device when different combinations of network features are applied to the packet at the network device. When the network device applies one or more of the network features to the packet, the network device inserts one a particular information element of the unique information elements into the header of the packet based on the template and the one or more network features applied to the packet. The particular information element inserted into the header is resolvable to a list of the one or more network features applied to the packet at the network device.

Abstract: A method is performed at one or more entities configured to configure and provide assurance for a service enabled on a network. The service is configured as a collection of subservices on network devices of the network. A definition of the service is decomposed into a subservice dependency graph that indicates the subservices and dependencies between the subservices that collectively implement the service. Based on the subservice dependency graph, the subservices are configured to record and report subservice metrics indicative of subservice health states of the subservices. The subservice metrics are obtained from the subservices, and the subservice health states of the subservices are determined based on the subservice metrics. A health state of the service is determined based on the subservice health states. One or more of the subservices are reconfigured based on the health state of the service.

Abstract: A method is provided that involves obtaining service pre-conditions associated with a service to be supported in a network. The method includes providing a plurality of digital Intellectual Capital (IC) modules, and providing signature pre-condition logic that specifies one or more conditions that indicate relevancy of one or more digital IC modules. The method includes selecting, from the plurality of digital IC modules, based on the service pre-conditions and the signature pre-condition logic, one or more particular digital IC modules that are applicable to the service in the network. The method further includes determining information to be obtained from one or more nodes in the network based on the one or more particular digital IC modules, and obtaining the information from the one or more nodes in the network. The information is analyzed to determine whether the one or more specific operational issues are present in the network.

Abstract: A community exchange gathers machine consumable modules in a centralized database. The community exchange receives information associated with the status of a computing device. One or more device tags are generated based on the first information. Each of the device tags is related to at least a portion of the status of the computing device. The community exchange stores a database of machine consumable modules in association with one or more existing tags. By cross-referencing the device tags with the existing tags, the community exchange determines whether one of the machine consumable modules is associated with the device tags. Responsive to a determination that no machine consumable module in the database is associated with the device tags, the information received from the computing device is stored as a machine consumable module associated with the device tags.
