Abstract: An audio system with a loudspeaker configured to create an audio output, a sensor configured to detect at least the presence of at least one person at a position relative to the loudspeaker, and a processor configured to cause the loudspeaker to alter the audio output based on the position of the at least one person relative to the loudspeaker. Abstract: A multimedia system includes at least a first pair of satellite loudspeakers for radiating left and right channel signals, the satellite loudspeakers having a first lower cutoff frequency. The loudspeaker system also includes a separate subwoofer having a first upper cutoff frequency. The first lower cutoff frequency is higher in frequency than the first upper cutoff frequency. The loudspeaker system also includes a center loudspeaker array. The center loudspeaker array radiates center channel signals, and also directionally radiates left and right channel signals in the frequency range between the first lower cutoff frequency and the first upper cutoff frequency. The multi-channel loudspeaker system may also incorporate additional satellite loudspeakers for reproduction of surround channel signals.

Abstract: Audio speaker systems and methods are provided to detect movement of the speaker system or other device. An audio program content signal is converted into an acoustic signal, and the acoustic signal causes an echo signal. The echo signal is received and a relationship of the echo signal to the audio program content signal is quantified. A quantified value is compared to a stored quantified value and, based upon the comparison, a change in physical position is selectively indicated.
