    Abstract: A modular computing system for a data center includes one or more data center modules including rack computer systems. An electrical module is coupled to the data center modules and provides electrical power to computer systems in the data center modules. The data center modules do not include any internal active cooling systems and cannot be coupled with any external active cooling systems. A data center module directs ambient air to flow into intake air plenums extending along intake sides of the rows of racks, through the rows of racks into exhaust plenums extending along exhaust sides of the rows of racks, and out into the ambient environment to cool computer systems in the racks. Directed airflow can be lateral, vertical, at least partially driven by air buoyancy gradients, at least partially induced by air moving devices internal to computer systems in the rows of racks, thereof, etc.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein is a platform for monitoring the availability of facility equipment. The platform may include a facility equipment monitoring tool with access to configuration data for one or more facilities. The platform allows for deployment of a mobile client application across a plurality of mobile devices to facilitate performance of walk-through inspections (i.e., rounds) of equipment within respective facilities, and to provide real-time equipment availability indicators and other status indicators via a user interface of the application. The data collected during walk-through inspections may be logged and uploaded to a central server system and stored in a data repository. The platform may further provide a network-accessible monitoring dashboard for viewing real-time, and historical, data regarding the walk-through inspections performed at various facilities, and an administrative user interface to update configuration data in the data repository of the central server system.

    Abstract: One or more racks in a rack computing system include shelving systems with mounting portions to receive computer systems in the mounting portion. The mounting portion can include an air flap structure that can restrict airflow through internal space of the mounting portion when a rack computer system is absent from the mounting portion. The air flap structure can retract to enable a computer system to be mounted in an internal space of the mounting portion. A mounting portion can include at least a portion of a backplane assembly that can be aligned to couple with a rack computer system mounted in the mounting portion to communicatively couple the rack computer system with one or more communication networks. The mounting portion can include an ejection mechanism that can eject an installed computer system from the mounting portion.

    Abstract: In a data center having multiple resource zones, each of the zones has an uninterruptable power supply (UPS) and associated power storage elements such as batteries. A power bus may be provided between the resource zones to connect the outputs of the power storage elements of the resource zones. The power storage elements may thereby be shared between the UPS's so that an individual resource zone may be operated for a longer duration under anomalous conditions.
