Abstract: An electrowetting element comprising a first fluid and a second fluid immiscible with the first fluid. A support plate comprises: a wall, a surface having a display area and an electrode. The wall bounds a perimeter of the display area which widens towards a first side of the electrowetting element. The electrowetting element further comprises a color filter substantially overlapping a first sub-area of the display area; and a substantially colorless region substantially overlapping a second sub-area of the display area and widening towards the first side of the electrowetting element.

Abstract: An electrowetting element comprises a first fluid and a second fluid immiscible with the first fluid. The support plate includes an electrode for applying a voltage to control a configuration of the first and second fluids and a reflective surface. A first layer positioned between the reflective surface and the support plate surface has a first layer optical thickness substantially equal to a quarter multiple of a reference wavelength.
