    Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for dental caries detection and communication. These methods and apparatuses may be used in real time, as part of an intraoral scanning system, or at any point following intraoral scanning. These methods and apparatuses may use a plurality of different images of the teeth, each having two or more fields (e.g., wavelengths such as visible light, near-infrared, fluorescent, etc.), and may use a trained pattern matching agent to detect possible caries centers from each image, then may project some or all of the possible caries centers onto a 3D model of the teeth to identify consensus caries and caries centers.

    Abstract: A system for tooth shade imaging in dental treatment may include one or more processors and memory having instructions that when executed by the one or more processors may cause the system to receive scan data of a patient's dentition, determine that a tooth of interest for shade capture is within a field of view of a shade capture device, capture a first shade of the tooth of interest before tooth preparation, capture a second shade of the tooth of interest after tooth preparation, generate a digital model of the tooth of interest after tooth preparation, and model a third shade resulting from placing a prosthetic on the tooth of interest after tooth preparation using the digital model of the tooth of interest after tooth preparation including the second shade and a digital model of the prosthetic.

    Abstract: A method may include obtaining a first 3D model of an upper jaw of a patient using an intraoral scanner and obtaining a second 3D model of the lower jaw of the patient using the intraoral scanner. The method may also include capturing a series of 2D images of the upper and lower jaws of the patient as the patient is moves the upper jaw and lower jaw in dynamic occlusion and processing the captured series of 2D images to identify features associated with the upper jaw of the patient and the lower jaw of the patient. For each 2D image in the captured series of 2D images, the method may include identifying a relative position of the first 3D model and the second 3D model based on alignment of features in the first 3D model and second 3D model with the features identified in the 2D image to generate a series of relative positions of the first 3D model and the second 3D model. The method may also include modeling dynamic occlusion of the upper jaw and the lower jaw of the patient based on the series of relative positions of the first 3D model and the second 3D model.
