Abstract: Disclosed is a method of controlling a respiratory assistance apparatus delivering a flow of gas, particularly a flow of air, having the steps of measuring at least one parameter indicative of the flow of gas; converting at least one parameter indicative of the flow of gas into at least one signal indicative of the flow of gas; processing at least one signal indicative of the flow of gas in order therefrom to deduce at least one item of information relating to cardiac massage being performed on a patient in cardiac arrest; on the basis of at least one deduced item of information, automatically selecting a given ventilation mode from among a number of stored ventilation modes, and controlling the respiratory assistance apparatus by applying the selected ventilation mode. Respiratory assistance apparatus capable of implementing this control method.

Abstract: The invention relates to a medical ventilator (1) configured to provide respiratory assistance to a person in cardiac arrest, comprising a motorized blower (2), a gas circuit (3), and storage means (4) for storing ventilation modes (MV1, MV2) to be implemented during cardiac massage or in the absence of cardiac massage, in particular during an RSCA. Selection means (5; 5.1, 5.2) for selecting a ventilation mode (MV1, MV2) enable a user to select one of the stored ventilation modes, and control means (6) control the motorized blower (2) in response to the user's selection of one of said ventilation modes (MV1, MV2), so as to supply the gas at the desired low and high pressures.

Abstract: The invention relates to a monitoring and/or respiratory assistance apparatus that can be used during a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with successive chest compressions of duration (dt) performed on the patient and with relaxations, said apparatus comprising a CO2 content measurement sensor (10) a graphical user interface (14), and signal-processing system (11) configured to process the CO2 content measurement signals in such a way as to determine at least one maximum CO2 content value (Vmax) and at least one minimum CO2 content value (Vmin), during at least one duration (dt) of at least one chest contraction, and then to calculate at least one airway opening index AOI or mean index AOImean on the basis of the CO2 content values. Said one or more indices are displayed on the GUI in the form of numerical values or graphical representations, especially curves or pictograms.

Abstract: The specification describes an artificial resuscitation bag (5) having (i) a deformable bag (54) with a gas inlet (54A) and a gas outlet (54B), (ii) a pneumatic control valve (50) comprising an exhaust port (50c) adapted for controlling the flow of gas exiting to the atmosphere through said exhaust port (50c), and (iii) a monitoring module (60), operably connected to the pneumatic control valve (50) and having an absolute pressure sensor (60d) for measuring at least an absolute pressure (Pabs) in the inner compartment (50f) of the pneumatic control valve (50) and for transmitting at least an absolute pressure signal to a central processing unit (60c) and an ambient pressure sensor (60b) for measuring at least an atmospheric pressure (Patm) and for transmitting at least an atmospheric pressure signal to the central processing unit (60c).
