    Abstract: A microfilm copying camera of the step-by-step type which permits adjustment of the ratio of the size of the picture to be taken (the copy) to the size of the picture to be copied (the master or original). The camera is provided with a light source of controllable intensity for illuminating the entire master; the light source is controlled by a photometer mounted on the camera and scanning a small test area of the master. The camera has an adjustable lens board, whereby the size of the copy may be varied. The photometer has a light sensitive element mounted in the plane of the camera film, and a lens which scans the test area which is mounted on the camera lens board and has a focal length equal to the focal length of the camera lens. The camera may have a shutter mechanism with a fixed opening and a constant exposure time, the only variable in the taking of the picture then being the variable illumination provided by the controlled light source.

    Abstract: A device for adjusting a microfilm camera so as to achieve uniform illumination at the film gate to expose film in the film plane. The camera has a support means for supporting a film cassette, and the device of the invention includes a baseplate carried by this support means and formed with a gate opening corresponding to that provided by a cassette. A light-sensing means is carried by the baseplate for sensing at predetermined points in the film plane the intensity of light which passes through the gate opening of the baseplate. A moving means is operatively connected with the light-sensing means to move the latter with respect to a pair of mutually perpendicular coordinates. The light-sensing means includes at least one photocell which provides a signal corresponding to the light intensity, and distant from the light-sensing means is a lightindicating means coacting with the light-sensing means to indicate in response to the signal from the photocell the light intensity sensed by the light-sensing means.

    Abstract: A light-measuring device for microfilm cameras which is adapted to measure in a point-by-point manner the brightness of an object plane. A small area of an object plane is projected by means of suitable light source via a measuring objective lens onto a measuring photoelectric cell. Light-conducting means are optically aligned with the objective lens and the light source. The photoelectric cell is mounted in the light-conducting means and has an end surface which is coplanar with an end surface of the light-conducting means. The measuring objective lens serves to also project a pattern of light defined by the shape of the end surface of the light-conducting means onto the object plane.
