To improve the convenience of a user and further provide service comfortable and safe for the user.A PK 22 storing PMD as personal related information of a user 20 communicates with a service system 24. When first using the service system 24, the PK 22 stores the service ID of the service system 24 and a spoofing preventing method. When the PK 22 communicates with the service system 24 for a second time and thereafter, a spoofing preventing process is mutually performed, and then the PMD is provided to the service system 24. The service system 24 reads or changes the PMD on the basis of access permission information set in advance by the user 20. The present invention is applicable to PDAs.

The present invention provides an information processing apparatus including: a first similarity degree calculating section for calculating the degree of similarity between a predetermined item and a calculation target item; and a related item determining section for determining a predetermined quantity of the calculation target items as the related items of the predetermined items in the descending order of the degree of similarity, wherein meta information related to the calculation target item based on the behavior history of user is added to the predetermined items and the degree of similarity between the predetermined item and the calculation target item is calculated.

A network system, terminal device and network server specify the user on the network even if the user uses any one of the terminal devices in the network system to which terminal devices and network server are connected via the predetermined communication system. When the user uses the terminal device 12, 13, 31 or 47, by transmitting the user private information and the user operating terminal device specific information to the network server 22 as the specific information, the network server 22 can specify the terminal device 12, 13, 31 or 47 in use by the user.

The terminal device to be used by a user is recorded in the network server 22. The network server 22 converts information to be transmitted to the terminal device used by the user into information conformed to the terminal device used by the user, or transmits a notice to the terminal device to the effect that there is information to be transmitted to said user. Thereby, the information can be easily and surely transmitted to the user who is the destination of the information.

Notification of lapse information of a public key certificate from a PKI directory server to a PKI directory client. Certificate authority information in a certificate authority structure is made to correspond to a container entry, end entity information is made to correspond to a leaf entry, and the certificate authority structure is assigned to a directory tree. If a certain certificate is lapsed and a certificate is newly issued, the newly issued certificate and its serial number are stored in the entry. After a predetermined time elapses, the certificate is put into a certain URL and the certificate stored in the entry is replaced with the URL information. At a receiver, a filtering mask is set on the basis of a certificate pass for obtaining the necessary certificate. A directory tree in which URL information and the serial number have been stored is repetitively transmitted from the transmission side. At the receiver, only the entries selected by the filtering mask are updated.

Techniques are disclosed for selecting an item to recommend to a user from a plurality of items. A first set of scores indicating degrees of association between items of the plurality of items may be calculated using a first scoring algorithm having a first scale, and a second set of scores indicating degrees of association between items of the plurality of items may be calculated using a second scoring algorithm having a second scale. The second set of scores may be adjusted to match the second scale to the first scale, and a third set of scores may be calculated for the plurality of items by combining the first set of scores and the adjusted second set of scores. An item may be selected from the plurality of items to recommend to the user based on the third set of scores.
