Abstract: A plant deflector assembly adapted for mounting to an open frame of a row crop harvester which is movable over a field of plants. The plant deflector assembly includes a series of fore-and-aft spaced elongated deflector members which are adapted to pass beneath at least a portion of a drive assembly on the harvester and extend transversely across a frame of the harvester for vertically deflecting and inhibiting plants passing beneath the harvester from rising into contact with the drive assembly and becoming entangled therewith. The series of spaced deflector members are mounted to extend from an area adjacent a forward end of the harvester frame and extend rearwardly to an area adjacent an engine forming part of the drive assembly. The plant deflector assembly may further include a mounting apparatus adapted for securement to the frame of the harvester and to which the plant deflector members are secured. The mounting apparatus preferably includes at least two fore-and-aft extending and generally parallel arms defining a series of mounting holes which promote releasable securement of the plant deflector members thereto.

Abstract: An access ladder assembly for an agricultural machine having a body with an elevated operator's station. The ladder assembly includes a ladder that is mounted to the frame of the machine by a pivot mechanism that allows the ladder to be moved in either rotational direction about both a generally horizontal axis and a generally vertical axis. A locking mechanism releasably holds the ladder in an angularly adjusted position about both of these axes. A release mechanism conveniently located relative to the operator's station controls operation of the locking mechanism. The ladder assembly further includes rail structure carried by the ladder and movable about a generally vertical axis to either of two adjusted positions.

Abstract: A multi-piece tool bar assembly including a main support structure suited for connection to a frame of an agricultural implement and a second support structure selectively attachable in end-to-end abutting relation with the main support structure for extending the effective length of the tool bar assembly. A fastener assembly initially aligns support surfaces on the support structures relative to each other and thereafter maintains such alignment to facilitate movement of one or more row units onto the second support structure. The fastener assembly is arranged wholly within the exterior of the support structures and comprises a guide pin which extends beyond an abutting end of one of the support structures and is accommodated in a close sliding fit relationship within an opening defined at the abutting end of the other support structure. The guide pin and opening are precisely located on the respective support structures to ensure alignment of the support surfaces of the support structures. Threaded fasteners releasably interconnect the support structures to each other and furthermore maintain the support surfaces in alignment relative to each other.
