摘要: A safety syringe for medical use is disclosed as having an injection-molded body with a tubular barrel having a finger flange projecting transversely from the barrel near a proximal end of the barrel and a cylindrical collar projecting rearwardly from the finger flange to the proximal end of the barrel. A plunger assembly includes a plunger handle end cap and an elastomeric plunger seal insertable into the barrel through a rearwardly facing opening in the cylindrical collar to slidably engage the cylindrical inside wall of the barrel. A cylindrical elastomeric bushing is frictionally engaged around an outside wall of the cylindrical collar, and a selectively removable plunger cap frictionally engages the cylindrical elastomeric bushing. A safety syringe may also include a needle safety device.

摘要: A dosage verification system for use prior to administering an injection of a medicinal fluid drawn into a medical syringe, the system comprising a medical syringe having a barrel with an outwardly facing, flat indicia display surface, plunger having a plunger seal disposed inside and slidably engaging an inwardly facing wall of the barrel and a plunger handle projecting rearwardly from the barrel, and a hypodermic needle projecting forwardly from the barrel, all in combination with an imaging device configured to view and selectively capture, store or transmit a digital image of the plunger position relative to the barrel when a dose of the medicinal fluid is drawn into the fluid chamber of the barrel prior to an injection to verify and provide a record of the dosage drawn, and to alert a user prior to injection when an incorrect dosage is drawn into the fluid chamber of the syringe.

摘要: An intravenous catheter introducer for medical use having a body, a frontal attachment that is disposed in transverse sliding engagement with a front part of the body, a hub tube assembly that is releasably supported by the frontal attachment, and a retractable catheter insertion needle and needle holder that are biased rearwardly by a spring offset laterally from the needle axis, whereby lateral repositioning of the body relative to the frontal attachment following vascular insertion moves a needle retraction cavity disposed inside the body into substantial coaxial alignment and causes the needle holder to be retracted into the needle retraction cavity.
