    摘要: Systems and methods are presented for establishing network-wide time synchronization in a time-slotted barrage relay network. In the first phase, nodes obtain coarse, slot-level time synchronization by estimating the time-of-arrival (TOA) of a message that rapidly floods the network via the barrage relay mechanism. In the second phase, fine time synchronization is achieved via a messaging protocol that exchanges TOA information between neighboring nodes.

    摘要: Systems and methods are presented for topology discovery in a multi-hop ad hoc network. The method operates on two time and distance scales. Nodes periodically transmit messages to their immediate neighbors that enable the discovery of their two-hop network topologies (i.e., within two hops). Less frequently, nodes broadcast messages network-wide that enable the discovery of the global network topology at all nodes. In multi-hop ad hoc network architectures that are characterized by efficient broadcast protocols—e.g., Barrage Relay Networks—the proposed method provides a particularly efficacious means for global topology discovery.

    摘要: In a wide band radio frequency (RF) simulcast communications system analog voice signals are distributed in a digitized form over high speed data channels and processed as high speed data. A conventional Ericsson, Inc. EDACS.TM. simulcast communications system is improved by altering the apparatus and manner by which "clear voice" (unencrypted analog voice) is distributed from a control point and "aligned" at multiple transmitter sites for simultaneous RF broadcasting. In the improved arrangement, the EDACS.TM. simulcast system inherent digital data stream alignment process produces the requisite time domain alignment for the digitized "clear voice" signals without the need for costly analog audio alignment procedures and equipment.

    摘要: A "narrow band" public service trunking (PST) simulcast radio frequency transmission system having high-speed and low-speed digital data access capabilities in addition to analog voice operates in the 900 MHz frequency-range, as distinguished from a conventional "wide band" PST system that operates in the 800 MHz frequency range. In a narrow band PST simulcast system having digital access capabilities, the handling of low speed digital data must be accomplished differently than high speed data since it becomes unique to each channel. This would ordinarily require providing an additional data path for each channel, or a wider band width audio path neither of which is feasible or cost effective. Arrangements are therefore provided for the routing of low-speed data to each transmit site via the high-speed digital data channel path for each site and for holding the high-speed data resynchronization circuitry at each site at its previous latency during the transmission of low-speed data, which would otherwise cause erroneous triggering of the resynchronization circuitry.

    摘要: An energy efficient lighting unit is described designed for functional similarity to the incandescent light used in the home. The light unit utilizes a metal vapor arc lamp as the main source of light supplemented by a standby filamentary light source. The lighting unit includes means for converting 60 hertz ac to dc, and a dc energized operating network comprising an inverter operating at above audible frequencies (e.g. 30-40 KHz). The operating network produces a sequence for the arc lamp and the standby filamentary light source appropriate to each operating state of the arc lamp.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a threshold amplifier suited to integrated circuit fabrication of a process employing CMOS technology. The threshold amplifier is designed to sense current producing a first or a second logic level as a function of a current threshold. The amplifier comprises a p-channel device and a n-channel device serially connected across the bias supply. The gate to source voltages of the two devices are respectively controlled by a diode connected p-channel device similarly serially connected across the bias supply with a diode connected n-channel device, the source of the latter being returned to ground via a current carrying resistance also in the second series path. The output level which is taken at the drain inter-connection between the devices in the first series path depends on the relative conductivity of the two devices which is in turn affected by the induced voltage drop in the source connected resistance in the second series path. The threshold voltage may be controlled by the geometry ratio between the n-channel devices, and the current setting in the second series path.
