Abstract: A sealed glass tube containing a luminophor and a radioactive gas is subdivided by heating the tube to fusion by means of a laser beam. The tube is heated within a sealed enclosure and means are provided for regulating the pressure within the enclosure so that the pressure exceeds that within the glass tube.
