摘要: A system and method is provided for element quality improvement in three-dimensional (3D) quadrilateral-dominant surface meshes. The system may include a processor configured to collapse a first plurality of edges of a plurality of quadrilateral elements that form a surface mesh of a 3D model, which edges have lengths that are shorter than a predetermined fraction of a minimum element edge length (MEL). Further, the processor may also move nodes connected to at least some of a second plurality of edges of the plurality of quadrilateral elements so as to have lengths that are at least the MEL. Also, the processor may adjust included angles and the warp of elements to be within predetermined limits. Further, the processor may collapse in the mesh all remaining edges of the plurality of quadrilateral elements that are shorter than the MEL to produce a modified surface mesh in which all quadrilaterals in the modified mesh have edge lengths that are at least the MEL.

摘要: A system and method are provided for adaptive domain reduction for thermo-structural simulation of an additive manufacturing process. The system may include a processor configured to carry out a simulation of a part being additively produced according to a set of tool paths. The simulation may include determining an original mesh of the part; determining an order of the elements of the original mesh to deposit; and simulating an incremental deposit of each of the elements of the original mesh for a material in the order that the elements are determined to be deposited. For each incremental deposit of an additional respective element the processor may determine thermal characteristics and structural deformation characteristics of the deposited elements. After the deposit of several layers have been simulated, subsequent simulation of elements may be carried out based on a respective modified version of the original mesh in which at least some of the layers of the original mesh previously simulated to be deposited under a current layer are retained and at least some are omitted.

摘要: A system and method for processing information of a high resolution lattice relating to computer aided design application includes in a first computer processor, tessellating the part surfaces and copying them to a memory associated with a graphics processing unit (GPU). Further processing based on rods is performed on a processor associated with the GPU, wherein processing tasks are subdivided and performed in parallel in a plurality of processing cores of the GPU. Each subdivided processing task may be performed in a separate processing thread allocated to the subtask. The GPU processor produces output based on the further processing and copies the output information to the first computer processor. The first computer processor may perform further processing to the output provided by the GPU.

The 3D printer is configured to cause the deposition head to rotate in order to selectively change, an angle of a deposition axis at which the deposition head outputs material. The generated instructions specify how the deposition head is operated by the 3D printer to build the article on the build plate such that material deposited along a side wall surface of the article is provided by the deposition head having its deposition axis orientated at an angle determined based at least in part on an angular orientation of the side wall surface.
