摘要: An optical mirror is kinematically mounted at its sides on one fixed point and two movable points which points are supported by a frame spaced from the mirror. One of the movable points is a ball on a cantilevered arm which rests in a cone or groove in the mirror, the other movable point is a mechanical flexure prelaod mounting or a pneumatic preload mounting, which mountings serve to apply constant preload to such mirror. The mirror is made of ceramic material, of low thermal expansion or contraction and has water cooling passages therein. The frame is made of metal of higher thermal expansion or contraction. However such mirors, when reflecting a high intensity laser beam can thermally expand relative to the frame and must do so with minimal deformation from the desired optical contour thereof which result is accomplished by the resilient and constant preload mountings of the present invention. The preload mounting of the invention also serves to compensate for temperature differentials between the cooled ceramic mirror and its uncooled metal frame.

摘要: A gas dynamic laser device is formed having an elongated linear combustor having a trapezoidal cross-section. The combustion chamber is formed having a short front plate with two side plates extending rearwardly at an angle to an open end. A short flange extends outwardly from the free end of each side plate and an elongated plate extends forwardly from each short flange to a point located in front of each short plate. A plurality of ribs are placed along the length of said elongated linear combustor normal to the side plates. A primary injection device is placed in said short front plate between each adjacent pair of ribs and a secondary injection device is placed between each adjacent pair of ribs, alternating between side plates extending for the length of said combustor. The oxidizer is passed through the nozzle plates of the nozzle assembly for cooling it and passed through passages in the side plates of the combustion chamber for cooling them. The oxidizer is then passed to the primary injection device for mixing with fuel to be injected therein with a portion of the oxidizer being passed on to a secondary injection device for injection upstream toward said primary injection device.

摘要: A laser nozzle, optical cavity walls, and combustion manifold system is formed having a plurality of laser nozzle members formed having two elongated projections on each side thereof, a forward projection and a rearward projection, and when said members are placed together, the rearward projections meet to form a solid wall while said forward projections are spaced to form an elongated nozzle. Side plates enclose the ends of the nozzle members and end plates cover the ends of the side plates and exposed surface of the end nozzle members. A cavity is formed between each pair of meeting rearward projections and spaced forward projections of adjacent nozzle members. A hot gas flow distributor liner is placed in each cavity through an opening in one side wall. The liner has a plate at one end which mates with a recess in the outer surface of the side wall. An opening in said plate is connected to the inside of said liner. A combustion manifold having an outer flange has the outer flange placed over the plates of the liners to hold them in place and is fixed to the adjacent edge of the side plate. The liner tapers inwardly as it extends into said cavity while the surface adjacent the elongated nozzle opening extends substantially parallel thereto. A modification shows a combustion manifold on both sides with shorter liners extending in a cavity from both sides to a point adjacent each other at the center of the cavity.
