    摘要: Optimization of transfer settings for a given paper and environmental condition is achieved by running a series of prints with varying settings of a transfer parameter such as voltage or current. The mass remaining on the intermediate belt after transfer is monitored for each of the prints. This may be achieved using the same sensor used to monitor and control the developed mass on the intermediate transfer member, such as a transfer belt. A suitable sensor is an Extended Toner Area Coverage (ETAC) mass sensor. Because the control is based on actual conditions for a given paper and environment, it can ensure optimum copy quality over a wide range of papers and conditions, while enabling the minimum target mass per unit area to assure the proper density.

    摘要: A control system for use with a development process including at least one magnetic roll with a settable speed is provided. The controller is directly or indirectly responsive to a reload feedback signal, which signal is generated in response to changes in output reload performance of the development process. In the case of direct responsiveness, the controller uses one or more reload feedback signals to facilitate magnetic roll speed setting. In the case of indirect responsiveness, the controller uses a reload sensitivity signal, which reload sensitivity signal varies as a function of input digital image content and output reload performance feedback, to facilitate magnetic roll speed setting.

    摘要: An apparatus for developing a latent image recorded on an imaging surface, including: a housing defining a reservoir storing a supply of developer material wherein the developer material having predefined triboelectric charge about 20 to 30 microCoulombs/gram. A donor member is mounted partially in the housing and spaced from the imaging surface, for transporting toner on an outer surface of the donor member to a region opposed from the imaging surface. An electrode member is disposed in between the donor member and the imaging surface. A system is provided for loading a region of the doner member with developer material. A charging device ion charges the toner loaded on the region of the donor member to a predefined charge level. A power supply electrically biases the electrode member positioned in close proximity to the imaging member to detach toner from the region of the donor member as to form a toner cloud for developing the latent image.

    摘要: A color electrophotographic printing machine in which latent images having a resolution of at least 1.44 million pixels per square inch are recorded on a photoconductive member. Different color toner powder images are developed in superimposed registration with one another to form a composite multicolor image. The composite multicolor image is transferred from the photoconductive member to a receiving member. Toner particles which have a selected pigmentation and small volume average diameters are used to minimize curl of the receiving member.

    摘要: Disclosed is a process for forming two-color images which comprises (1) charging an imaging member in an imaging apparatus; (2) creating on the member a latent image comprising areas of high, intermediate, and low potential; (3) developing the low areas of potential with a colored developer comprising a colored first toner comprising a polymer resin selected from the group consisting of styrene-butadiene copolymers, styrene-acrylate copolymers, styrene-methacrylate copolymers, and mixtures thereof, a blue first colored pigment of the formula C.sub.32 H.sub.16 N.sub.8 Cu, a cetyl pyridinium chloride charge control agent, a 3,5-di-tertbutyl salicylate compound charge control agent, colloidal silica surface external additives, and metal stearate salt surface external additives; a colored second toner comprising a polymer resin selected from the group consisting of styrene-butadiene copolymers, styrene-acrylate copolymers, styrene-methacrylate copolymers, and mixtures thereof, a cyan second colored pigment of the formula C.sub.104 H.sub.164 N.sub.12 O.sub.8 S.sub.4 Cu, a charge control agent selected from the group consisting of distearyl dimethyl ammonium methyl sulfate and distearyl dimethyl ammonium bisulfate, colloidal silica surface external additives, and metal stearate salt surface external additives; and a color carrier comprising a core and a coating selected from the group consisting of methyl terpolymer, polymethyl methacrylate, and a blend of from about 35 to about 65 percent by weight of polymethylmethacrylate and from about 35 to about 65 percent by weight of chlorotrifluoroethylene-vinyl chloride copolymer, wherein the coating contains from 0 to about 40 percent by weight of the coating of conductive particles; (4) subsequently developing the high areas of potential with a black developer comprising a black toner comprising a second resin present selected from the group consisting of polyesters, styrene-butadiene polymers, styrene-acrylate polymers, styrene-methacrylate polymers, and mixtures thereof, a black pigment, and a charge control additive; and a black carrier comprising a core and a coating selected from the group consisting of chlorotrifluoroethylene-vinyl chloride copolymer containing from 0 to about 40 percent by weight of conductive particles; polyvinylfluoride; and polyvinylchloride; and (5) transferring the developed two-color image to a substrate.
