摘要： A paper web (W) is dried in a forward dryer section (D) of a paper machine in downward open drying groups (G1 . . . G6) that apply single-wire draw. Then, in a finishing section the web (W) is surface-sized in a surface-sizing unit (20) and dried mainly by contact-free drying: partly by airbone web-dryers (31, 32, 34, 36) or by impingement drying. The power of the airbone web-drying/impingement drying is regulated on both sides of the web (W) such that the tendency of curling created in the web (W) in the forward dryer section (D) can be controlled.

According to the method, the web (11) is made from fibers and then the web (11) is treated with pigment particles. The web is treated with microscopic pigment particles whose average size is so small as to permit the particles to adhere to each other by van der Waals forces. The particles are transferred to the web and adhered thereto advantageously using an ion-blast technique.

The coated web is first conveyed through a web heating unit (10, 32, 40), in which the temperature of the coated web is raised, typically to drying temperature, by directing jets of heating air at the coated web, the humidity a1 of the said heating air jets being higher than the humidity a2 of the drying air jets. After this the coated web is conveyed through at least one air dryer (34, 36, 38; 42, 44, 46), in which drying air jets are directed at the coated web for drying the coated web.

The method comprises application of a coating slip to at least one surface of the web (2) at the coating head (1) of a coating machine, the measurement of the transverse temperature profile of the web (2) surface in at least a measurement point (7, 8) fitted after the coating head (1), and the determination of the profile of the web's (2) coating layer on the basis of the temperature profile measured in at least the measuring point (7, 8) fitted after the coating head (1), whereupon a change in the temperature of the web's (2) coating layer or in the difference of the temperature between the coating layer and the base web (2) is at least almost proportional to the change in the coat weight.

摘要： A welding device applies weld material between two work pieces (P1, P2) so as to connect the work pieces (P1, P2) mechanically with one another. The welding device has a welding head (110) and a probe head (120). The welding head (110) performs a welding action in respect of the work pieces (P1, P2) during transport of the welding device along an operating direction (OD) in a welding plane (WP); and the probe head (120), which is arranged upstream of the welding head (110) relative to the operating direction (OD), measures a set of geometric properties of a gap (G) between the work pieces (P1, P2). Thus, the welding head (110) can be properly positioned to attain a desired application of the weld material in the gap (G). Moreover, first adjustment means allow a position of the probe head (120) relative to a position of the welding head (110) to be varied angularly by rotating at least one of the probe head (120) and the welding head (110) around a first axis (A1) oriented essentially perpendicular to the welding plane (WP). Thereby, welding in narrow and curved gaps (G) is facilitated.
