A plurality of object arrays in which a plurality of objects are sorted under a plurality of order conditions are generated. A display image is generated by sorting the objects in an order for each object array to line up in the first direction for each of the plurality of object arrays, selecting one object of a first object array of the plurality of object arrays as a reference object, and sorting the objects for each of the plurality of object arrays so that the reference object and objects corresponding to the reference object included in the object arrays other than the first object array line up in the second direction.

Upon receiving a notification from a device that a content configuration changed, a management apparatus that manages one or more devices searches among contents possessed by the device in question for a content for which first identification information recorded in a second area and in a first area of attendant information of the content differ, and determines whether second identification information recorded in a second area of the attendant information of the retrieved content is unique among all contents in the system. When the management apparatus determines that second identification information of the attendant information is not unique, it updates the first identification information recorded in the second area of the attendant information with first identification information recorded in the first area of the attendant information and updates the second identification information with identification information that is unique in the system, to thereby update the attendant information of the content.

Operation history information in which information on an operation using multiple devices on a network performed in another system is recorded is acquired from the other system, and it is determined whether or not the operation performed in the other system is reproducible based on the operation history information. And the operation determined to be reproducible is presented to a user so as to reproduce the operation selected by the user. Reproduction can be executed simply and securely without being conscious of configurations and capabilities of devices in the system on the part of the user.

A radio communication apparatus capable of executing communication and processing of audio data and image data by simplifying the system structure where various apparatuses are connected via a terminal adapter (TA), which conventionally used a large area and whose connection was complicated. More specifically, the system structure comprises: an interface unit (RS232C controller 219, driver 220, PIAFS controller 228, I.460 processor 236) connected with a data terminal (PC) by radio or by cable; radio communication unit (PHS engine unit 237) for realizing radio communication with a wireless telephone unit; and transmission arrangement (first port switch 229, second port switch 233, ISDN interface unit 225 and the like) for transmitting at least one of the data transmitted by the data terminal (PC) or the audio data transmitted by the wireless telephone unit, to the digital public communication line (ISDN).

In a wireless communication system capable of communication with a frequency hopping method, if predetermined control information is received from a third wireless communication device while a first wireless communication device is in communication with a second wireless communication device, the first wireless communication device interrupts the communication with the second wireless communication device and executes communication with the third wireless communication device. When the communication between the first and third wireless communication devices is terminated, the communication with the second wireless communication device is re-started. All these communications are executed in a same hopping pattern, and the second wireless communication device switches the frequency according to such hopping pattern even while the communication is interrupted.

A digital signal radio communication system employing frequency hopping for multi-purpose data processing apparatuses communicates predetermined information to a multi-purpose data processing apparatus by transmitting a carrier to a predetermined number of time slots of a communication frame having a plurality of time slots and communicates different information in accordance with which time slot the carrier is to be transmitted to among the plurality of time slots. A detector detects whether the carrier is in the predetermined number of time slots among the plurality of time slots or in more than the predetermined number of time slots. A controller performs control based on the carrier when the detector detects that the carrier is in the predetermined time slots, and judges that noise is generated when the detector detects the carrier in more than the predetermined number of time slots.

A display control apparatus displays image data pieces based on an array in which the image data pieces are sorted in accordance with a specified rule. The display control apparatus extracts, with use of one image data piece from the array as a reference, image data pieces at a set interval from the image data pieces arranged in the array, and arranges and displays the extracted image data pieces that include the reference image data piece on a screen of a display unit based on an order of the array. If the reference image data piece or the interval used in the extraction of the image data pieces has been changed based on an instruction from a user, the display on the display unit is changed with use of the new reference and interval.

Data communicated on one wireless channel is converted and communicated via a wired line. Alternatively, data communicated on a plurality of wireless channels is bundled and communicated via a wired line using a number of channels smaller than that of the wireless channels. In a case where another wireless communication apparatus wishes to use a wireless communication channel when a plurality of wireless channels are being used for communication, some of the plurality of wireless channels are released, thereby making it possible for the other communication apparatus to perform communication even when communication is being carried out using the plurality of wireless channels. When communication by the other wireless communication apparatus subsequently ends, communication on the original number of wireless channels is resumed.

In a content display apparatus in which a plurality of contents are displayed according to the order of metadata added to each content, the plurality of contents are arranged hierarchically by metadata and a group of metadata, and an array of plurality of contents arranged hierarchically is formed. Icons representing contents are displayed on a display device according to the order of the array of plurality of contents formed, and when a command for scroll is made for the displayed icons, icons in the hierarchy level to which the icons belong are scroll displayed. The scroll speed for scroll displaying the icons is changed, and based on the changed scroll speed, the hierarchy level is changed so that icons in different hierarchy level are displayed and scrolled.
