Abstract:
A lid for closing a container, particularly a paint container, provided with a skirt including an upper rim. The lid includes a dish and a peripheral zone integral with the dish and provided with an outer edge in sealed co-operation with the upper rim and the dish includes a side wall and a base, part of the wall forming a pour spout with height H relative to the peripheral zone, to facilitate transfer of the product. The base includes an orifice or recess delimited by a rim and forming an opening, so as to allow through an instrument, and the lid includes a cap for sealing said orifice, so as to enable the orifice to be manually closed or opened as many times as necessary. The invention provides easy use, reduces paint losses and stains, and enables incorporation of numerous other functions in the lid.
Abstract:
A process for forming an easy open lid comprising a central panel having a score strip with a score thereon, a crimping edge and a ring enabling the lid to be opened by perforation of the score. The score on the lid is formed from a metal lid outline supported by an anvil by displacing a punch of angle alpha thereover and causing an asymmetrical flow of metal between the punch and the anvil during the displacing. This reduces the risk of crack formation in the metal at the bottom portion of the score or beneath the score.
