摘要:
A filter housing, divided into a purification chamber with a row of parallel filter sections and an adjoining exit manifold communicating with these filter sections, forms a dustcollecting trough extending beneath the row of filter sections and an upright return air shaft communicating at its lower end with that trough, this air shaft entering an inlet duct through which incoming dust-laden gas is supplied to the filter sections. A screw conveyor in the dust-collecting trough has two portions for delivering predetermined fractions of the accumulating dust to a discharge duct at one end of the trough and to the return air shaft at its opposite end; the latter fraction is driven by compressed air from a blower through that shaft into the inlet duct to agglomerate with the arriving fine dust, thereby preventing clogging of the filter surfaces by small particles.

Dust-laden gas streams containing a chemically toxic or noxious component are initially passed through a first pocket filter to remove particulate matter and then may be charged with an additive capable of binding the toxic or noxious components in the form of solid particles which are entrained by the prepurified gas stream to a second pocket filter. The particulate layer containing the additive and deposited upon the latter filter surface is periodically dislodged and reentrained by the gas stream onto the filter surface until the quantity of additive which is deposited on the second filter surface is between 100 and 1,000 times the quantity per hour of the additive charged into the prepurified gas stream. Equilibrium is then maintained between collected solids on the second filter surface as additive solids are carried onto the latter so that the quantity of the additive withdrawn per hour as collected from the filter is equal to the quantity per hour of the additive charged into the prepurified gas stream.

This invention relates to a pocket filter apparatus for cleaning dust-laden gases. The apparatus is of the kind that comprises a housing divided by a slotted wall into two chambers, one for the dust-laden gas and one for the cleaned gas and in which a plurality of filter pockets having open edges are mounted in the first chamber, and through which pockets the dust-laden gas is passed upwardly from the exterior to the interior. Conventionally, these filter pockets are laterally spaced and mounted in the first chamber in at least two rows lying one above the other with the open edges of the filter pockets covering the slots in the slotted wall. In order to increase the efficiency of such filters, the invention proposes that the filter pockets of a lower row nearest the inlet are laterally spaced apart by a distance greater than the distance between the filter pockets in the row immediately above said lower row and preferably the spacing in the lower row is twice that in the upper row.

IN A POCKET FILTER FOR PURIFYING DUST-LADEN GAS, COMPRISING A FILTER CHAMBER SEPARATED INTO A DUST-LADEN GAS COMPARTMENT AND A CLEAN GAS COMPARTMENT BY A WALL WITH VERTICALLY EXTENDING SLOTS FORMED THEREIN IN SPACED PARALLEL RELATION, AND FILTER POCKETS EXTENDING THROUGH THE SLOTS INTO THE DUST-LADEN GAS COMPARTMENT SECURED TO THE SLOTTED WALL AND SUPPORTED BY INNER FRAMES INCLUDING A BRIDGING FORMED BY A MAT OF SPIRAL SPRINGS INSERTED INTO THE FILTER POCKETS AND EXTENDING BEYOND THE SLOTTED WALL INTO THE CLEAN GAS COMPARTMENT, THE INVENTION RESIDING IN THAT PROFILE MEMBERS ARE SECURED TOGETHER WITH THE FILTER POCKETS INTERMEDIATE THE SLOTS OF THE SLOTTED WALL EXTENDING VERTICALLY CONTINUOUSLY OVER THE HEIGHT OF THE SLOTS AND THE FILTER POCKETS, THE HEIGHT OF THESE PROFILE MEMBERS BEING SUCH THAT THEIR SIDES REMOTE FROM THE SLOTTED WALL ARE DISPOSED IN A COMMON PLANE SUBSTANTIALLY COINCIDING WITH THE PLANE OF THE VERTICAL EDGES OF THE SUPPORTING FRAMES WITHIN THE CLEAN GAS COMPARTMENT THEREBY FORMING INDIVIDUAL PASSAGES EACH COMMUNICATING WITH THE INTERIOR OF A FILTER POCKET. A KNOWN CLEANSING GAS NOZZLE COMMUNICATING WITH A SOURCE OF PRESSURE GAS AND HAVING A DISCHARGE OPENING EXTENDING OVER THE LENGTH OF THE PASSAGES FORMED BY THE PROFILES SUBSTANTIALLY IN THE PLANE OF THEIR FREE SIDES IS MOVABLE IN LATERAL DIRECTION PAST THE ROW OF FILTER POCKETS. WHENEVER THE MOUTH OF THE CLEANSING GAS NOZZLE BECOMES ALIGNED WITH A PASSAGE COMMUNICATING WITH THE INTERIOR OF THE RESPECTIVE FILTER POCKETS THE FLOW OF GAS WILL BE REVERSED THEREBY REMOVING THE DUST ACCUMULATED AT THE OUTSIDE OF THE FILTER POCKET.
