摘要： An applicator for applying a size to a strand comprises a reservoir for storing the size, an applicator surface on which the strand contacts the size, and a conduit to deliver the size from the reservoir to the applicator surface as a film. Means is provided for altering the configuration of the conduit to alter the thickness of the film.

摘要： The present invention embraces apparatus for the production of mineral fibers such as glass fibers. In particular, the apparatus comprises a guide member for gathering filaments into side-by-side strands wherein the guide member has a locating hole and support means for holding the guide member normal to the side-by-side strands. The support means comprises a supporting member, a pin member extending upwardly from the support member for positioning the guide member thereon at the locating hole, and an adjustable member extending from the support member and adapted to support the guide member so that the guide member is held above the support member by the pin and the adjustable member.

摘要： Apparatus for applying a thixotropic gel to fibers comprising a first block, a second block, means for holding the first block and the second block together to form a feed passage for the thixotropic gel, and an applicator roll rotatably mounted at the outlet of the feed passage such that during rotation of the applicator roll, thixotropic gel fed from the feed passage is sheared between the first block and the applicator roll to reduce the viscosity of the thixotropic gel, the applicator roll being spaced from the second block such that during rotation of the applicator roll, the thixotropic gel is not sheared between the second block and the applicator roll.
