    摘要: A printing press is provided. The printing press includes at least one printing unit printing on a web, a folder for forming the web into a plurality of signatures, the plurality of signatures traveling in a stream at an initial pitch and a pitch changing device for changing the initial pitch of the plurality of signatures in the stream. The pitch changing device includes a first orbiting member orbiting about a first axis and rotating about a second axis and a second orbiting member orbiting about a third axis and rotating about a fourth axis. The first orbiting member and second orbiting member form a nip and the nip receives a stream of signatures. The first and second orbiting members vary a velocity of the signatures so as to alter the initial pitch. A folder and a method for changing a pitch between consecutive signatures is also provided.

    摘要: A method for determining accuracy of an actual position of a plurality of independent motors in a printing press is provided. The method includes commanding each of the plurality of motors in the printing press via a controller to move a desired initial position, comparing an actual position of each motor to the desired initial position of each motor, determining if the actual position of each motor is within a predetermined tolerance of the desired initial position, and resetting any motor outside the predetermined tolerance to be within the predetermined tolerance. A printing press is also provided. The printing press includes a plurality of printing press components and a plurality of motors. Each motor drives at least one of the printing press components and each of the motors has a desired initial position. The printing press also includes a position detector for determining an actual position of the motor with respect to the desired initial position of the motor.

    摘要: The present invention provides a folder having a collect cylinder mounted for rotation and a collect cylinder drive mechanism for rotating the collect cylinder. The collect cylinder includes at least one gripper and a gripper actuator connected to the gripper, and including a cam follower arrangement. A fixed cam having a surface profile is in engagement with the cam follower arrangement to cause actuation of the gripper, and a rotating cam mask is mounted for rotation relative to the fixed cam to selectively mask the surface profile of the fixed mask for actuation of the gripper in a preselected mode. According to a feature of the present invention, an independent cam mask drive mechanism is provided for rotating the rotating cam mask in a controlled rotation to selectively mask the surface profile.

    摘要: An apparatus for diverting incoming printed products which includes a shaft, at least one first flipper mounted in a first fixed direction on the shaft, a motor coupled to the shaft; and a controller coupled to the motor for controlling positioning of the shaft to allowing printed products to be diverted along different paths associated with a particular shaft position. The apparatus further includes a low inertia coupler interconnected between the motor and the shaft. Alternatively, the apparatus includes a roll, a first motor coupled to the roll and a controller coupled to the first motor for controlling the rotation of the roller for diverting printed products along one of two different paths, each path associated with a direction of rotation of the roll. This alternative apparatus may also include a shaft with at least one flipper mounted thereon and a second motor coupled to the shaft.
