摘要: The present invention relates to a load sensor comprises an annular gauge ring comprising an annular inner ring portion and an annular outer ring portion. The gauge ring has strainable beam members and flexing beam members. The beam members interconnect the ring portions. The flexing beam members are thicker in comparison to the strainable beam members so that the flexible beam members are less subject to elongation and compression due to strain in comparison to the strainable beam members such that the flexing beam members substantially limit the relative movement between the ring portions to the load measuring direction when a load with a force component in the load measuring direction is applied to one of the ring portions by (1) resisting elongation and compression to substantially prevent relative movement between the ring portions in a transverse direction and (2) flexing to allow limited relative movement between the ring portions in the load measuring direction. The strainable beam. members are constructed and arranged such that the substantially isolated relative movement between the ring portions creates a strain in the load measuring direction in the strainable beam members. The strain has a magnitude directly related to a magnitude of the force component in the load measuring direction. A strain measuring an outputting device is adapted to measure the magnitude of the strain and to thereafter output the measured strain magnitude as an output signal which can be used to calculate the force component magnitude and hence the applied load. The load sensor of the present invention may be used in a variety of applications. The load sensor is particularly well suited for measuring belt tension in both idler and torque transmitting pulley assemblies. Also, the load sensor may be used to measure the co-efficient of friction between a bushing and an oscillating shaft.

摘要: A tensioner for tensioning engine driven driving elements, such as belts or chains, is disclosed. In accordance with one aspect of the invention, the tensioner is initially installed with the pivot structure spaced past the perpendicular angular position thereof. In accordance with another aspect of the invention, the tension required to move the pivot structure to the end of its range of angular positions is at least 75% more than at the hot engine angular position thereof. In accordance with another aspect of the invention, the tensioner has a stop at the maximum travel position thereof and the tension required to move the pivot structure to its maximum travel position is at least 75% more than at the hot engine angular position thereof. In accordance with a still further aspect of the invention, the tension required to move the pivot structure to a potential tooth skip angular position is greater than the maximum tension the engine is capable of creating.

摘要: A belt tensioner for a motor vehicle engine, comprises a spindle portion and an eccentric pivoted structure mounted for pivoted movement on the spindle portion. A rotatable pulley member is mounted for rotation on the eccentric pivoted structure, and a spring is constructed and arranged to bias the eccentric pivoted structure and hence the rotatable pulley member into tensioning engagement with a belt trained about the pulley member. A force applying structure is constructed and arranged to force the spindle portion toward the belt against a counteracting belt load force applied by the belt to the rotatable pulley. Linear guiding structure is constructed and arranged to limit movement of the spindle portion to linear movement toward the belt during application of force by the force applying structure during installation of the belt tensioner.

摘要: A belt tensioner for a motor vehicle engine comprises a pivot shaft and an eccentric pivoted structure mounted for pivoted movement on the pivot shaft. The belt tensioner has a rotatable pulley member mounted for rotation on the eccentric pivoted structure. A spring is constructed and arranged to bias the eccentric pivoted structure in a direction tending to force the rotatable pulley member into tensioning engagement with a belt trained about the pulley member. A mounting bolt is constructed and arranged to mount the belt tensioner on the motor vehicle engine, said pivot shaft being movable relative to said mounting bolt and towards said belt during a belt tensioner installation procedure. A linear guiding structure provides surfaces of interengagement between said belt tensioner and said motor vehicle engine to limit movement of the pivot shaft to linear movement toward the belt during the installation procedure. The present invention also relates to a method of installing a belt tensioner in which the pivot shaft moves in a substantially exactly linear fashion as the tensioner is moved into tensioning engagement with the belt. In a preferred embodiment, when the belt tensioner is moved into tensioning engagement with the belt, an external force is applied to the tensioner to balance any belt load forces tending to tilt the tensioner during installation. The present invention also discloses a tensioner that has contact portions that oppose the tilting force applied by the belt during installation, and a portion that extends beyond the contact portions to facilitate installation.

摘要: A tensioner for tensioning a flexible drive means, such as a timing belt or chain, includes a pulley to contact the belt. The pulley is mounted on a tensioner arm and the tensioner arm can be rotated about a pivot shaft mounted to the tensioner by a spring. The axis about which the pulley rotates is spaced from the axis of the rotation of the tensioner arm with respect to the pivot shaft and the spacing of these axes of rotation results in the pulley moving through an eccentric towards or away from the belt when the tensioner arm is rotated. A stop is used to limit the range of movement of the tensioner arm between a desired range of movement defined by a free arm stop and a backstop. The position of the stop is adjustable by an installer. The angular range of movement of the tensioner arm is adjustable from a position suitable for installation of the tensioner to a position suitable for operation of the installed tensioner. In one embodiment, the movement of the stop from the installation position to the nominal operating position also compensates the spring.

摘要: A tensioner enables easy and reliable reinstallation of the tensioner and belt in the field service while simultaneously making it possible to utilize a one-way clutch device to ensure continuous belt tension control without cumbersome manual alignment and/or realignment procedures. The tensioner has a pivot shaft configured for mounting on an engine surface. A tensioner arm is mounted on the pivot shaft for pivotal movement between a free arm stop position and premount stop position. A belt-engaging pulley is mounted for rotation on the tensioner arm. A base cup is rotatably mounted around an end of the pivot shaft. The base cup has an arcuate slot having a free arm stop end and a premount stop end. The tensioner arm cooperates with the arcuate slot limiting the pivotal movement of the tensioner arm. A spring is coupled between the tensioner arm and the base cup biasing the tensioner arm in a belt-tensioning direction. An anti-kickback stop mechanism engages the pivot shaft and has a lost motion connection with the tensioner arm wherein the tensioner arm moves through a free range without engaging the anti-kickback mechanism. The tensioner arm 1) rotates the anti-kickback mechanism as the tensioner arm moves beyond the free range towards the premount stop position and 2) enables the anti-kickback mechanism as the tensioner arm moves beyond the free range towards the free arm stop position, limiting travel of the tensioner arm therebeyond. The spring is fixable relative to the pivot shaft upon the tensioner being mounted on the engine surface.

摘要: A tensioner (10) features a backstop device (40) which allows free rotation of the pivot arm (20) in one direction but not the other. Reverse rotation is prevented by friction that is able to resist torque on the pivot arm (20) under ordinary operating conditions which otherwise could permit belt tooth-skip to occur. In disclosed embodiments, the backstop device (40) includes a stop sleeve (50) and a clamp holder (60) which are axially interlocked and are able to rotate relative to each other. A clutch spring (80) surrounds permits relative rotation between the stop sleeve (50) and the clamp holder (60) in one direction but not the other. A clamp (70) retained within the clamp holder (60) frictionally engages the pivot shaft. A viscous coupling may be used in place of the frictional clamp.

摘要: A compressed air system to deliver dry and clean air whereby the compressed air supplied by the air compressor is passed through a primary circuit of a heat exchanger and a liquid separator where it is cooled down close to the freezing point of the water so that the majority of the water vapor in the air will condense. The condensate as well as majority of the oil in the air is removed from the air stream with a centrifugal action inside the liquid separator which consists of a precooling chamber, cooling lines, conical centrifugal separator section, vertical center cavity and exit passage. The superheated air leaving the liquid separator unit can be dried further by passing the air through the freezer dryer units where its temperature is lowered below the freezing point of the water so that the remaining water forms into ice crystals and will get attached to the inside walls of the freezer dryer. The returning air from the liquid separator is guided through the secondary circuit of the heat exchanger before it enters the air reservoir tank. The remaining oil particles as well as rust and dust in the air stream can be removed with an oil filter unit placed downstream from the storage tank.

The tensioner arm 1) rotates the anti-kickback mechanism as the tensioner arm moves beyond the free range towards the premount stop position and 2) enables the anti-kickback mechanism as the tensioner arm moves beyond the free range towards the free arm stop position, limiting travel of the tensioner arm therebeyond. The spring is fixable relative to the pivot shaft upon the tensioner being mounted on the engine surface.
