Abstract:
Substantially flame retardant-free carpets comprising poly(trimethylene terephthalate) yarn having minimal carrier and, optionally, minimal antistatic agent, are disclosed, as are methods for making such carpets.
Abstract:
This invention relates to poly(trimethylene terephthalate)/poly(alpha-hydroxy acid) biconstituent filaments, methods for making the same and end uses thereof.
Abstract:
A process for the preparation of a side-by-side or eccentric sheath-core bicomponent fiber wherein each component comprises a different poly(trimethylene terephthalate) composition.
Abstract:
A process for preparing poly(trimethylene terephthalate) fibers comprising (a) providing a poly(trimethylene terephthalate) composition comprising about 0.05 to about 5 mole % tetramethylene terephthalate repeat units and (b) spinning the polymer composition to form fibers. Poly(trimethylene terephthalate) fiber comprising poly(trimethylene terephthalate) composition comprising about 0.05 to about 5 mole % tetramethylene terephthalate repeat units, as well as yarns, fabrics (e.g., woven, knitted, and nonwoven fabrics) and carpets. A poly(trimethylene terephthalate) composition comprising about 0.05 to about 5 mole % tetramethylene terephthalate repeat units.
Abstract:
A process of making a pigmented shaped article comprising: (a) providing polytrimethylene terephthalate chips and two or more colored pigmented chips each containing at least one different color pigment; (b) heating the polytrimethylene terephthalate chips and colored pigmented chips to a temperature of about 200-about 280° C. to melt the chips and form a polymer composition comprising the polytrimethylene terephthalate and at least one color pigment; and (c) forming a shaped article from the polymer composition.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a method of melt-spinning a polyether ester thermoplastic elastomer under commercially viable conditions to produce an elastoester multifilament yarn, wherein the polyether ester thermoplastic elastomer is a polytrimethylene ether ester comprising a polytrimethylene ether dicarboxylate ester soft segment and hard segment selected from a trimethylene dicarboxylate ester and/or a tetramethylene dicarboxylate ester hard segment.
Abstract:
A side-by-side or eccentric sheath-core bicomponent fiber wherein each component comprises a different poly(trimethylene terephthalate) composition and wherein at least one of the compositions comprises styrene polymer dispersed throughout the poly(trimethylene terephthalate), and preparation and use thereof.
Abstract:
Provided are a method and apparatus for making a cigarette filter assembly for potentially reducing particle breakthrough. The method includes forming a lofty porous network of charge retaining polymer fibers by mechanical, chemical or thermal bonding of the fibers, wrapping the lofty porous network in a cylindrical or tubular shape with optional mediating filter fibers in a filter paper to form a filter plug while maintaining the lofty structure. The charge retaining fibers can be charged to attract and hold particles from such sources as particulate matter from sorbents (preventing break-through), and smoke constituents while having a suitable pressure drop. The apparatus handles the lofty media with minimal crushing, for example, by spacing apart delivery rolls equipped with protrusions to punch, push, and/or pull the lofty media ahead for high speed operation.
Abstract:
Provided is a cigarette filter and method of making the filter. The filter includes an adsorbent dispersed within the filter and a downstream plug of randomly-oriented fibers. The randomly-oriented fibers mechanically capture adsorbent particles entrained in tobacco smoke. One or more plugs of axially-oriented fibers may also be located upstream and/or downstream of the adsorbent, and are included in an amount sufficient to adjust the length of the filter.
Abstract:
Disclosed are side-by-side or eccentric sheath-core bicomponent fibers comprising a poly(trimethylene terephthalate) component and a poly(tetramethylene terephthalate) component and preparation and use thereof.
