Abstract: The present invention relates to a silicone hydrogel having at least about 20 weight % water, and formed from a reactive mixture comprising at least one non-reactive hydrophilic polymer and at least one symmetric, hydroxyl functionalized silicone monomer. Silicone hydrogels of the present invention may be formed from reaction mixtures which do not contain hydrophilic monomers.
