摘要： A process for filtering fine particulates from a stream of hot gas wherein the particulates vary in size between about 0.15 and 250 microns includes the steps of removing a majority of the larger size particles from the gas stream, while leaving a majority of the smaller particles in the stream, then introducing into the gas stream particulates having an average size greater than the smaller size particulates, and thereafter passing the gas stream through a porous filter medium having a pore size exceeding the size of the smaller size particulates.

摘要： An improved hot gas filter candle is disclosed including an increase density flange portion adjacent the top of the filter for improving candle service life when the candle is mounted on a tube sheet. The area of flange densification is extended to a position beyond the bottom of the tube sheet. During vibration or swaying of the candle only the denser portion of the candle may impinge on the edge of the tube sheet aperture on which the candle is mounted Further, the denser portion of the candle is not so porous as to draw dirty particles into the clearance between the candle and the tube sheet aperture creating an area of increased stress in the candle adjacent the bottom of the tube sheet aperture.

摘要： A ceramic filter candle is formed by a skeleton of ceramic fibers and spaced apart metallic perforate reinforcing members bonded together by means of a ceramic binder and a porous ceramic coating material which partially fills the interstices between the fibers and the perforations in the reinforcing members. The candle is manufactured in a vacuum forming process wherein an aqueous slurry of the ceramic fibers and a ceramic binder is drawn through a generally cylindrical mold surface and the preformed tubular reinforcing members to deposit the fibers on the mold surface and over the reinforcing members. The fibers and the reinforcing members are subsequently coated with a ceramic material.

摘要： A gas sampling device includes a tubular ceramic filter element sealably mounted to a mounting plate and a locking member which secures the filter element to the mounting plate. The locking member includes a filter element cleaning nozzle which directs high velocity pulses of a cleaning gas into the filter element. An annular passageway surrounds the cleaning nozzle and carries gas from the filter element to an outlet port spaced a substantial distance from the open end of the nozzle.

The outer layer has a mean pore size which is at least several times smaller than the mean pore size of the substrate and the substrate is at least several times thicker than is the outer layer. The outer layer and the substrate are preferably formed of the same material or of two different materials having essentially the same coefficient of thermal expansion.
