    摘要： An ice level sensing system for use on a refrigerator including a freezer compartment having top wall, opposite side walls and an access opening. A door is provided for closing the access opening. An ice maker is disposed within the freezer compartment adjacent the top wall for forming ice pieces. An ice storage bin is removably mounted to the door below the ice maker for receiving ice pieces from the ice maker. An emitter element, supported on a side wall of the freezer, emits a beam of light across the upper portion of the bin. A receiver element, supported on a freezer side wall opposite the emitter element, receives the beam of light wherein beam of light travels between the emitter element and the receiver element along a line of sight path. A paddle is rotatably supported on a freezer side wall for blocking the line of sight when the door is open. In addition, a movable member may be provided, supported on a freezer side wall opposite the paddle, which may be selectively movable between an ON position and an OFF position wherein in the OFF position the movable member blocks the line of sight.

    摘要： A refrigerator having a cabinet defining a freezer compartment having an access opening and a closure member for closing the access opening. An ice maker is disposed within the freezer compartment for forming ice pieces and an ice storage bin is removably mounted to the closure member below the ice maker for receiving ice from the ice maker. The ice storage bin has an upper portion which is transparent and has a bottom opening. An ice discharge chute extends through the closure member below the bottom opening of the ice storage bin. A motor is mounted on the closure member. An auger is vertically disposed within the ice storage bin and is drivingly connected to the motor. Upon energization of the motor, the auger moves ice pieces from the ice storage bin through the bottom opening to the ice discharge chute for dispensing ice pieces from the ice storage bin.

    摘要： A vertical axis washer is provided with a rotatable wash basket that has one or more inwardly directed baffles, but no central agitator structure. Surfaces are provided in association with the baffles, which may be in the form of ramps on the bottom wall of the basket, to cause the fabric load within the washer to move up the side of the basket wall and to slide along the baffles in a swirling motion as the basket is accelerated and decelerated during the washing cycle, which causes the fabric to be flexed and rearranged in the basket. This washer construction is particularly suited to be used in conjunction with a concentrated detergent solution wash cycle.

    摘要： In an automatic washing, a wash additive dispenser is disposed in a tub, and a drive mechanism is provided for selectively rotating the dispenser at a first angular speed and a second, greater angular speed. The wash additive fluid dispenser may be mounted on an agitator. The dispenser includes first passages for permitting liquid flow from the dispenser into the tub when the dispenser is rotated at least as fast the first angular speed, and second passages for permitting liquid flow from the dispenser into the tub when the dispenser is rotated as least as fast as the second angular speed. The dispensing cup can include a frutoconical portion having a sidewall diverging upwardly and terminating in a radially outwardly-extending toroidal portion disposed at the upper end of the frustoconical portion. A method of dispensing wash additive fluid is disclosed which includes the steps of retaining wash additive fluid in the dispenser during agitation, and centrifugally dispensing wash additive fluid into the tub from dispensing passages in the dispenser wall during at least one spin cycle. The method may include the substeps of centrifugally dispensing a first portion of wash additive fluid into the tub during a first spin cycle, and centrifugally dispensing a second portion of wash additive fluid into the tub during a second spin cycle.

    摘要： A method for laundering a textile wash load is provided for use in a vertical axis washing machine in which a concentrated detergent solution is continuously applied to a spinning wash load for a predetermined time period to thoroughly wet the clothes load. The initial charge of detergent is thoroughly mixed with the detergent in a recirculation step before being applied to the clothes load. The concentration wash liquid is incrementally applied to the spinning clothes load until a sufficient amount of wash liquid is detected as having been introduced to the wash zone. That amount of wash liquid is then recirculated and reapplied to the clothes load for a predetermined length of time. After the time period, additional water is added to the solution to dilute it to a normal concentration and then mechanical agitation and rinsing steps are conducted to complete the wash cycle.
