摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member, charging device which is in contact with the image bearing member and charges the image bearing member, development device which forms a toner image on the image bearing member and recovers a residual toner remaining after the transfer from the image bearing member, transfer device which transfers the toner image on the image bearing member onto a transfer material, auxiliary charging device which is positioned at a downstream side of the transfer device and at an upstream side of the charging device in a rotating direction of the image bearing member, which is in contact with the image bearing member and which is given a voltage of a polarity opposite to that of the developing toner, and voltage selecting device which selects the voltage applied to the auxiliary charging device based on the potential of the image bearing member after the transfer. In this manner, it is possible to prevent a defective image resulting from a voltage applied to the auxiliary charging device, regardless of a fluctuation of the potential on the photosensitive member after the transfer.

摘要： An image forming apparatus of the present invention is composed by an image bearing member that bears a toner image; an intermediate transferring material that contacts with the image bearing member; a transferring unit that transfers a toner image on the image bearing member to the intermediate transferring material at a transferring position; a bias applying unit that applies a bias to a power supply portion of the transferring unit during a period in which transfer is performed by the transferring unit; a cleaning unit that contacts with the image bearing member and cleans the surface of the image bearing member; a toner supplying unit that, when an image is not being formed, passes a toner image for supply that is formed on the image bearing member through the transferring position to supply the toner image for supply to the cleaning unit; and a switching unit that switches from a state in which the power supply portion is electrically connected to the bias applying unit to a state in which a resistance value between the power supply portion and a ground is 100 MΩ or more.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a plurality of image forming stations and a transferring device. Each image forming station includes an image carrier for carrying an electrostatic image and a developing device for developing the electrostatic image with toner. The transferring device transfers toner images formed by the plurality of image forming stations to a transferring medium. The plurality of image forming stations include a transparent image forming station using transparent toner and color image forming stations using, for example, yellow, magenta, cyan, and black toners, respectively. The transparent image forming station includes a cleaning device that is in contact with the image carrier and picks up residual toner on the image carrier. The developing devices of the color image forming stations develop electrostatic images on the corresponding image carriers and simultaneously pick up residual toners on the corresponding image carriers.
