    Abstract: This invention provides an auxiliary heating and cooling circuit for an automobile interior compartment. The auxiliary circuit uses a circulated liquid heat transfer fluid such as the same liquid used for the vehicle engine system. In a cooling mode, the liquid is circulated through a heat exchanger within the vehicles air-conditioning circuit. The cooled fluid flows to an auxiliary heat exchanger where cooled air is made available. In a heating mode, the auxiliary system is connected directly with the engines cooling system where the hot engine coolant flows through the auxiliary heat exchanger for interior compartment heating.

    Abstract: An accumulator with an internal heat exchanger for use in an air conditioning or refrigeration system having a compressor, a condenser, an expansion device, and an evaporator is disclosed. In operation, the accumulator is placed in the system so high pressure, high temperature refrigerant flowing from the condenser and low pressure, low temperature refrigerant flowing from the evaporator simultaneously enter and flow through the heat exchanger disposed in the accumulator whereby the low pressure, low temperature refrigerant absorbs heat and thereby cools the high pressure, high temperature refrigerant. In one embodiment, the heat exchanger comprises a tube having at least one high temperature channel and one low temperature channel extending through the interior of the tube. In a second embodiment, the heat exchanger comprises a single spirally wound coaxial tube having an outer tube and an inner tube positioned within the outer tube. In a third embodiment, the heat exchanger comprises a plurality of coaxial tubes, each coaxial tube having an outer tube and an inner tube positioned in the outer tube wherein the inner tubes are fluidly connected.

    Abstract: A heat exchanger assembly including at least one aluminum based tube having an internal surface and an external surface, an aluminum based lithium-magnesium composition cladding applied to either one of the internal surface and external surface of the tube, and at least one aluminum based component disposed adjacent the cladding, a modified aluminum brazing flux applied to a joint between the surface and one component. The modified aluminum brazing flux comprises cesium fluoride, lithium fluoride, or both. Preferably, the cladding further comprises cesium. To manufacture the heat exchanger assembly, the tube and component are joined together with flux applied in the area of the joint using a controlled atmosphere brazing (CAB) process.

    Abstract: A continuous combination fin for a heat exchanger includes a base wall having a first portion, a second portion and a third portion. The continuous combination fin also includes a plurality of entrance louvers in the first portion extending outwardly at a predetermined angle in a first direction from the base wall. The continuous combination fin includes a plurality of exit louvers in the third portion extending outwardly at a predetermined angle in a second direction from the base wall reversed from the first direction. The continuous combination fin further includes a plurality of drainage louvers in one of the first portion and the second portion and the third portion that are off-set relative to each other such that air flows through the entrance louvers and exit louvers and water drains through the drainage louvers.
