Abstract:
A method, system, and apparatus for sensing gases includes a gas detector with at least one light emitter and at least one light detector configured to detect an intensity of light at wavelengths of light indicative of target gas(es). The system also includes a processor circuit and a data storage device in communication with the gas detector and configured to determine an amount of target gas in the volume of the gas-air mixture and to determine a lower explosive limit (“LEL”) level for at least one target gas in the gas-air mixture. The processor is configured to receive data regarding temperature and relative humidity of the gas-air mixture such that the processor circuit can adjust the LEL according to the temperature and humidity. Temperature and humidity sensors may be included to sense these conditions for inputting to the processor.
Abstract:
A method of producing a hologram with an orthoscopic, at least partially real image of an object is disclosed. According to the method, the object is recorded on a first hologram and is then reconstructed from this hologram and recorded on a second hologram. In taking the second hologram, solid objects are situated laterally with respect to the light-wave field reconstructing the object from the first hologram, and the solid objects are included in the second hologram. This technique permits reproduction of an image of the object which is viewable over a greater spatial region than would be the case if the laterally situated solid objects were omitted.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for adjusting the relative positioning of planar transparent objects, such as the two glass plates of a liquid crystal display, (LCD). Textured transparent markings are disposed on the planar transparent objects. Thereafter a collimated light beam is passed through the transparent textured markings and refracted thereby. Images of the textured markings are observed and detected, whereupon the relative positioning of the planar transparent objects is adjusted until the detected images are aligned in a predetermined spatial orientation. Also disclosed is a novel liquid crystal display having the transparent textured markings provided on the transparent electrode layers of the LCD device.
