Abstract:
A shared feed reader for multiple users and a method for sharing feed reading are provided which provide group collaboration features. The shared feed reader includes a server including a processor hosting the shared feed reader for remote access by multiple users, and a user interface for each of the multiple users including an aggregator of web feeds subscribed to by the user. The shared feed reader includes: a mechanism for defining a group of users, wherein web feeds subscribed to by users in the group are exposed to the other users in the group; and a mechanism for sharing a read status of a web feed post across the group, wherein the read status indicates which users have read the post. The shared feed reader may also include a mechanism for receiving a meta-feed of meta-posts, wherein meta-feeds and meta-posts relate to activities of users in the group on shared feeds and posts.
Abstract:
A method and system for selecting communication means are provided. The method includes receiving a request for communication (102) by a current user (101) with a target contact and searching data of prior communication attempts (105) by prior users with one or more prior target contacts using different communication means, wherein the current user and the prior users fall within a first defined category and the target contact and the prior target contacts fall within a second defined category. The success of the communication means of prior communication attempts is determined (104) and a communication means for the current user is recommended (103). The method includes referencing (107) relationship resource (109) to determine if users or target contacts fall within defined categories, such as, for example, an organizational structure level, a department, or a group of people with a given form of relationship to another group of people.
Abstract:
A method and system for defining border tile attributes for polygons. In one embodiment, a method for defining attributes of polygon border tiles comprises: decomposing a polygon into a plurality of segments; decomposing the segments into a plurality of border tiles; designating at least one edge for each border tile; determining a spatial relationship between the designated edge of each border tile and the polygon; and generating the attributes of the border tiles based on the spatial relationship between the designated edge of each border tile and the polygon.

Abstract:
A method and system are provided for accessing referenced information from non-hyperlink references (232) in a text document (214). Key data (260) identifying the referenced information is extracted from a reference (232) in the text document (214). A search (206) is requested for the referenced information using the key data (260), and an address for the referenced information is retrieved. Optionally, the reference (232) in the document (214) is converted into a hyperlink (250) to the address for the retrieved referenced information.
