摘要： A shield splice for terminating the individual shields on individual wires in multiple wire bundles includes a generally elongate section of transversely deformable material, preferably fabricated from aluminum or tin plated copper metal. The elongate section is open at each end and has a plurality of longitudinal passages which may be any of a number of geometrical shapes. The exterior surface is surrounded by a stainless steel or plastic tie strap, which may have a preinstalled ground strap. In use, wires with exposed shields are inserted through the passages in the elongate section, and the tie strap is cinched down and tightened, thus crushing the splice material around the individual wire shields and grounding them collectively. A method for grounding multiple internal braid splices is also disclosed.

摘要： A connector accessory for electrical connectors containing a detent or locking member or members for preventing disconnection from an attached connector when the assembly is subjected to vibration, shock or other stresses. The accessory consists of a coupling and a body containing the accessory which in one form is a detent and in another form serves as a detent in one direction of rotation and a permanent or temporary lock in the other direction of rotation. The coupling is provided with screw threads to engage an accessory thread at the rear of an electrical connector and the body contains features which are required to provide proper mechanical and environmental interface characteristics to mate with various electrical connectors, i.e., teeth, splines, seals, etc. When the accessory is mated to an electrical connector, the rotation of the coupling is restricted by a spring and tooth mechanism interfacing between the coupling and the body to prevent the coupling from counter-rotating and allowing the accesory to become loosened or separate from the back of the connector. This concept may also be empliyed on a connector coupling ring as well.

A preferred embodiment of the present invention includes an axial drain wire incorporated into the lamination and running the length of the conduit to provide lower ground path resistance.

摘要： A cable braid splice for creating a mechanical and electrical junction between two pieces of metal braid covering a single cable is disclosed, including a coiled ribbon spring having a first and second ends, coils at each end wound inwardly towards one another, a joining segment of ribbon interposed between the coils, and a thin pliable “C” clip for placement partially around a cable bundle and underneath overlapping cable braids. A method of using the splice is also disclosed, including the steps of placing a “C” clip over a wire bundle and underneath two opposing layers of braid so as to encompass approximately half the circumference of the cable bundle but leaving a gap on the other half, pulling the braids into an overlapping relationship with one another, pressing down the braids to form a ridge at the location of the clip, and applying the coiled ribbon spring by wrapping the opposing coils several times around the cable and opposing braids on each side of the ridge such that the joining segment of the coil crosses the ridge at the position of the gap in the “C” clip.

摘要： A cable termination system for heavy duty cables having a threaded metallic or plastic shield includes only two members; a termination body and a termination nut, the former having internal threads mating with an internal thread shield of the cable and the latter having rounded internal threads mating with rounded external threads of the termination to clamp at least the outer braids of the cable between the external threads of the termination and the internal threads of the termination nut. The termination body is screwed onto the shield and provides an annular pocket to receive the end of the shield to protect the wires of the cable from burrs and sharp edges at the end of the shield. The internal threads of the termination have a different pitch from those of its external threads whereby the threads bind the termination nut and prevent it from becoming unscrewed from the cable. The termination nut is locked in place by snap rings and its end seats against an O-ring to isolate it from the environment while the other end of the nut engages a projection on the termination body to seat the outer covering of the cable between the two elements of the system.
